You know what? This place has got much better since my review of 3-4 yrs ago. Same ownership, but the lunch menu has improved dramatically. A grill menu, a lunch special menu and a lighter omlette / salad / sandwich menu. All adds up to a developing lunch time trade. I've not been for dinner again since my last experience, but am intending to now after an excellent lunch the other day.

This place is a local gem - I come here at least once a month as I live nearby and have never been disappointed. The Grill Menu specials are excellent value for money and always tasty, service is if not the most professional always very friendly and welcoming and the wine list has some good choices at reasonable prices. It is not exactly a cheap night out but worth the extra for a treat. Only draw-back is the bathrooms in the basement which could do with a renovation.

I absolutely love Hadley House! My hubby and I had our London wedding reception there, and even though it was last minute the chefs and staff went above and beyond to accomodate us. That was just over a year ago, since then we have dinner there frequently, and I must say the standard of the food remains way above average. There are always new and exciting seasonal dishes and some old favourites. The presentation is just as good. I have met the chefs personally, and they do know their stuff. Although it does't have it's own parking there always spaces nearby. The place looks great and the staff are friendly. Rock on guys 10/10!!

wow!! just returned from eating at HH. What a change from previous owners. The food is more imaganitive than ever. We had poached salmon and mackeral for our starters followed by the sea bass and lamb shank which were all fresh and full of flavour...but the real wow!! is for the deserts. The pastry chef really nows his/her stuff. I had the passion fruit roulade which was out of this world visualy and taste wise. My partner had the almond and apricot tart which is now his favourite desert every eaten in ANY resaurant. thanks Hadley House.

A real gem in the leafy suburbs of wanstead. There are a number of restaurants in the area but i will always choose Hadley House as my No 1. The food is brilliant, service friendly and attentive and when choosing wisely offers good value for money.. They could do with a little make-over in the washrooms but over-all is a very high standard of restaurant. Well done!!

Went to Hadley House last Saturday and it was dreadful. Firstly i ordered the asparagus salad, it arrived looking lovely but er... no asparagus. I pointed out to the waitress that there appeared to be no asparagus but she said that it was within the watercress. So I looked a bit harder and realised the macadamia nuts were in fact pine nuts as well. So this time I called over a waiter and pointed this out ,plus the fact that there was definitely NO asparagus. He went to talk to chef and apologised and said that he should have advised me that the macadamia nuts had run out, and they took the salad back and added the asparagus.
The second course was trout. As soon as it arrived the smell was overpowering. An awful strong fungal type smell. Now I don't eat lots of trout but when i have in the past it has always been a mild flavour. Basically I couldn't eat it. They offered a free dessert but frankly by then all i wanted to do was get home.
My husband had filo pastry stuffed with fresh seasonal vegetables, which were mostly turnips - not the best summer veg in my book but it was ok.

We are regular customers at this restaurant which always meets and often exceeds our expectations - my wife and I both enjoy the delicious food, regularly changing offer of specials, the wine list which while including no surprises caters to most tastes and the attitude of the waiting staff and front of house manager, who recognize the importance of making customers feel welcome and of offering personalized service. We look forward to our future visits and hope Hadley House receives enough local support to see it through the recession, which has hit our high-street hard!

I recenly ate out mid week in Hadley House and had a great evening - the food was really very good, and importantly, arrived within a reasonable time of ordering. The mid week deal is a very good one but I have never balked at the full prices - or I didn't under the previous ownership - as it was always a top notich evening for the cost. Why oh why can't the new owners replicate this on Saturday evenings? My two most recent previous visits were on Saturday nights where we had to wait soooo long for service and food, that my guests said they never wanted to return, much to my embaressment. On one of those occasions, we turned up at the time we had booked a table for only to be told that our order wouldn't be taken for awhile as they were rather busy - as if a huge suprise and inconvenience to them. This is not the fault of waiting staff but down to kitchen organisation - or accepting too many bookings..
Hadley House has long been a jewel in the local crown, please look after it! My last experience has persuaded me to book again for a Saturday, but any future bookings will be reliant on that proving a good experience too.

just been back after the menu was changed for the summer and was as usual delighted with my meal - really good food, prices are very reasonable, there's a great selection of drinks on offer and staff are generally friendly and make coming here an enjoyable and relaxing experience.
