Penks

I have been a regular at Penk's since it opened 8 years ago! I am shocked to read the negative reviews listed here! Frankly it's like hearing someone slag off an old friend. I have only ever experienced fantastic food, charming service. As for the owner, he has always been a fabulous host. Very unfair, more a reflection on the people who wrote this review than the restaurant! We love it!

The restaurant is lovely, unfortunately the owner is an objectionable man, and was quite rude to us for accidentally missing £12 off the approx £80 tip that we left for our £800 spent in there. It was not intentional, and I felt that his money-grabbing attitude towards what should have been a discretionary tip for good service, certainly more than disqualified him from deserving it. We will not be going back.

We visited Penks on Saturday 8th. July and this is a bit of a find for North London. Genuinely interested and charming service, good, elegant but unpretentious French food, perfectly cooked. Cute mix of unstuffiness and yet pretty professional. I am happily recommending to other professional locals and would feel very relaxed about taking guests there. Deserves to do well.

I dined here on Saturday night with 3 friends and we had a wonderful meal. The menu is short but interesting. We each had different starters which were superb and the mains and dessert were also excellent. The dining room is quite small but has a lovely ambience and the staff were very helpful. A lovely meal at a great local restaurant. Will return soon
