Turned up to Neon on a Friday night. Apart from a couple of diners there was a large party. We were greeted by two waiters who were mucking around before being given a table. Next we were given three separate drinks lists and when my girlfriend went to ask for a menu she was met with a response of 'I hope you don't want to order alot as we've a large party - could you order quickly!'. Despite this bad start we shared a Mozzarella Fungi starter which wasn't bad although there wasn't much evidence of wild mushrooms but a main course of Calzone was delicious. While we were both enjoing our main course an argument took place on a nearby table with one of the waiters over the service charge which looked like it would come to blows at one point. The quality of the food couldn't redeem what for me is a place which is pretty souless . The service on the night was charmless and unwelcoming

I don't usually bother with writing reviews, but I feel I should warn anybody looking at eating at this dreadful restaurant before they actually book a table. We arrived on a whim on a Friday night at about 9 looking for a quick bite (because we couldn't get a set at the excellent Hive down the road) the restaurant had maybe 10-12 people eating. I cannot say how bad our evening turned out to be. We ordered our food (mains only), 1 1/2 hours later our meal finally turned up, it was cremated and nearly totally inedible. When I remonstrated with the manager, he had the cheek to insinuate I was trying to get away with a free meal! I agreed to pay for the drinks only, but was still presented with a full bill (including a 15% tip!!) finally I agreed to pay for the food just to get out of the place. Please please please if you know what is good for you, NEVER EVER eat here!!

Once good, now terrible. I'd even signed up for their membership scheme because we used to go so often. A shame as it looks like Brixton is adding some more good restaurants. If an even half decent Italian comes along, NEON will be history. Oddly seems to have got worse since Pangaea went - I guess everywhere needs competition. AVOID.

This is the best authentic italian food I have had for a very long time. Staff were very friendly and service was excellent. The interior is very trendy. Brixton has changed significantly the last few years. Neon is defintely worth a visit.

What can I say? The Food was terrific; as good as any top eaterie in Soho or The West End. The service friendly and the drinks flowing. Neon offers a welcome sophisticated touch to rough and ready Brixton!

This was my first (and last) visit to Neon. It took 30 mins to get a drink at the bar, a further hour to get my starter and the main course didn't arrive until 10pm. The bruschetta was quite difficult to find on the plate and my main course of packet pasta looked like it had been burnt to the pan and cooked for about 40 mins. With not even an apology from the manager, he either needs to sack the chef or himself!

Took ages to get a drink as there was only one barperson making cocktails. Food was late and very poor.

Very slow service (2 1/5 hours), and £16.50 dried bruschetta for starter and dried pack pasta for main, Awful :(

The food wasn't bad-it was awful. I like my meat burnt so it wasn't so bad for me I guess. Still, a good manager can make up for it with a professional apology and assurances that it was a one off. Shame he didn't.

I would recommend this resaturant for a trip with the mother in law.....

On the positive side the cocktails were good but only 1 bar staff on a Saturday night probably isn't enough
