I and my wife have eaten here regularly now for 5 years. The sushi is always well prepared and fresh. There is an interesting selection of japanese dishes. In the time we have eaten here I have never had a bad dish. The service is generally good although some of the waiters'/waitresses' English is not perfect. I find it helps to have a go at pronouncing the Japanese names. The Lady who runs the establishments is always very helpful andcureous

Having lived in Japan for many years this is one of the more authentic Japanese restaurants I've found in London. Menu includes dishes normally not found in restaurants outside of Japan. Cozy atmosphere with friendly service which brought back many fond memories of Japan. Highly recommended for an authentic experience.

There's a very convivial atmosphere to this little restaurant. The staff doted on us and were attentive and very friendly. The sushi is by far the freshest and best I've had in London and very reasonably priced.

Hiden away on a little back road near carnaby street,i get the feeling this is not the sort of place peopl stumble across. We went on Saturday afternoon and were seated at the bar, which was great fun as we could watch the suchi being made in front of us by the skilled chefs. The sushi was very fresh and really tasty. My boyfriend has been to Japan many times and claims this is the best sushi he has had in London. Prices are OK, with the maki rolls much better value than the nigiri. The nigiri is still worth the money though! The Sashimi platters looked fantastic and beautiful, Will return soon.

If you are less interested in enjoying your food than in witnessing a bizarre display of Japanese arrogance, then the Donzoko Evening is for you. It is a sad fact of London life that some of its more traditional Japanese restaurants (Sakura being another) utterly lack that most important and traditional of Japanese traits: good service and humility. They perpetuate an appalingly misleading image of Japanese culinary service. Where does one start? From the world-weary ghoul who greets you at the door? Or from the thin desultory youth who bears an occasional resemblance to a waiter? Or from the fact that they took an hour to replace a dish which they served wrongly- only to end up serving it nauseatingly lukewarm? Or from the shop manager's rude snort as you depart without leaving a service charge (hardly earned by them)?

A friend of mine introduced me to Don Zoko when I first came to London and I have been singing its praises for the past seven years. I believe it is the best and most authentic Japanese food that I've had in the city. It has an extensive menu that you would have to return to again and again to taste everything. The staff is very friendly, the chefs are excellent (they even say goodbye to you when you leave), and the quality of the food is unmatched.
It can get expensive if you get more creative with your choices, but if you stick to the rolls, nigiri or even the soba/udon noodle soups, you will be amazed how inexpensive it can be. I meet a friend there for dinner about twice a month and it is reliably fantastic and we never leave hungry.
Agadashi Dofu is a must.
I keep a stack of their business cards in my handbag because I'm always recommending them to everyone.

the atmosphere was good, nice and clean and staff were friendly - but we had to wait for ages to be served (and order taking), 2 dishes were totally forgotten (had to wait again), quite small servings for the price (and i didn't think it was that cheap)....
and hearing the shop manager (i presume - a japanese lady with too much make-ups) asking our next table to move away as it was getting busy wasn:t nice.
i don:t think i will go back there again

The sushi at Donzoko is some of the best I've eaten. I found the staff quite cordial. They are very business-like in their manner but never rude. I have recommended Donzoko to friends and will continue to do so.
