First time at a japanese restaurant for lunch with 2 colleagues and a client. Portions were small. I had the beef teriyaki with rice which was mouthwateringly gorgeous. Expensive but it didnt matter to me as the company was paying!

The bad: Tiny portions. Horrible sushi rice. Extremely salty udon noodle soup base. Chicken skin yakitori undercooked.

The decent: Fresh fish. Very tasty garlic aubergine dish.

The verdict: This place has gone down. Won't be visiting anytime soon.

Went to Donzoko last night with 3 friends on my recommendation. The restaurant was not overly busy (approx 70% of tables were full). We asked if they could arrange a selection of various dishes for us to try a selection of authentic Japanese cuisine. They could not do this. The food came out in a completely random order, one of us had finished two courses before others had received their starters. This would have not been too much of an issues (as it was an informal catch up with friends) if the was of a decent quality, however as it was not, and the bill came to £24 per head (with two drinks each), we felt slightly short changed. On a positive the beer was ice cold and delicious and we enjoyed the atmosphere.

The worst Japanese restaurant experience ever in London!!

Firstly, we were also told that we only had an hour to eat,(wish I had read the review down below before) which we thought there's table booked at 8pm in advance for other customers already, but the lady(seems owner of the res) didn't ask for 1 hour only favor to any of customers incoming to the restaurant..now I can't think of any reason except that they just wanted us(selected one!) to leave as soon as possible!! never had that before!

And the food came, we ordered tuna(maguro)sushi, salmon sushi, deep fried pork fillet, asorted fried set.

WORST SUSHI EVER I had in restaurant. the rice was way cold, just like the ones you get from fridge of supermarket or wasabi the chain sushi take away shop which costs 80p per piece and even fish on the rice was as thin as paper, thinner than you could get 80p value sushi!! and flavorless! and small! and it costs £3 per piece!!! I didn't expect the wonderful £3 maguro in sushi bar in harrods, but the same price, and the worst than any other sushi ever..Don't waste money on sushi here, Ramen Sato which next door is even better, cheaper and I thank Ten Ten Tei so much, even the quality of fish is not consistent.. and the horrible experience is not end here, I discreetly and politely mentioned the sushi wasn't good, specially about cold rice to waitress, in short seconds, the owner lady came and explained in a very rude attitude, saying there's 2 sushi chef, one makes cold rice sushi, the other one makes warm rice sushi!! I'm not japanese, never lived there, so maybe there is such thing, but never heard, anyone heard? so apparently we could choose warm rice sushi, and cold rice sushi!! and she became so angry, shouted to us 'everybody says the best sushi here' and walked away, and continuously talked to herself something in japanese to her staffs right in front us!!!! she seems very angry. I don't understand japanese, but I can clearly guess from body language and the way she told me before!! What an experience!!

and the last, deep fried pork fillet was tiny portion and little soggy. assorted set was ok, but nothing special either. it wasn't the worst like maguro sushi but certainly not good value for money, Ramen Sato's was way bertter for katsu wise as well.

Overall, if you want to feel 'ripped off', this is the place to go!!!!
