first of all, the concept of paying at the front before having a meal does not make sense to me, because it dones't encourage you to order more side dishes or anything else, besides, you don;'t know what you will get once the food has arrived, as you already pay before you eat!?!?....

secondly, I thought that the portion of the Chicken Curry was very very disappointing, I can actually count the number of 'TINY' pieces of what was supposed to be 'chicken', in my plate. There were only 5 'very small' pieces , the rest were souce, and 4 little pieces of chopped up carrots! The rice was vbery badly done, very hard and not moist like normal japanese rice. With the hobby of food tasting, I must say that the quality and the value is well out of balanced, and, the restuarant is topped of with no sense of service.

Complain could not be made, since I already paid at the beginning, and in conclusion, is to NEVER come back again.

was a bit surprised when i found out we had to order at the front desk before we were taken to our table, but it was a jap restraunt, and i knew i had to order my favourite katsu-curry!!

Wasn't dissapointed at all! the katsu-curry was really good, portion was generous and it arrived quickly.

Having read the restraunt reviews on here before going, i tried out gyozas since the past reviewers have all reccomended them, we shared a portion between the four of us, its quite good value, if i remeber correctly think there were 6 in a portion. However, the gyoza wasn't that great, i have to admit they were good, but not as good as i expected.

Would definately go again.. !

i really like this place... however, if you're into elaborate settings and over-the-top decor, this place is not for you... if you want great, tasty, aromatic food, at amazingly cheap prices! this is not to be missed!..

Great food, cheap, fast, convenient, friendly, understated, and very japanese. Been going there for almost seven years, almost every single weekend. Much less chic than Satsuma, my other local favourite, but there you will see the japanese clientele (with children and all...) and it will cost you half as much, and the gyoza are superb. Remember to carry cash though... And let's ask them to get rid of that empty sushi fridge at the bar, blocks the view of the gyoza grill. And who's idea was to serve sushi at Ryo in the first place? They don't need that... and I have not seen anybody ordering it since they started...
