Ate in this restaurant last night on the basis of this website's reviews and was not disappointed.
There was an extensive menu and what we chose was excellent.
Would definitely go back again.
The place was filled with Japanese people which re-inforced the authenticity and quality of the food.
Also the food & wine was very reasonably priced.

Fairly good quality sushi with a wide selection of maki and nigiri, including some cooked. Also a wide selection of authentic cooked Japanese dishes (Octopus balls, for example). Great service -- their english isn't perfect, but they're absolutely polite and friendly, and easy to find. Quiet, quaint, charming, and intimate, without seeming empty. Fair prices. Will definitely go again.

The lunch is very good value. The grilled fish sets can be recomended. We had salmon and mackerel sets at 6£ and were very content.

I'm not a sushi fan but I'm a fan of treating my husband on his birthday. And Soho Japan was a real treat.
The salmon nigri and miso soup were outstanding. The crab rolls were a little disappointing but you can't win them all.
The atmosphere (although there were only a handful of diners there) was very pleasant, and the service was attentive without being obsessive.

Loved this place, the Miso soup is very good. The char grilled mackerel was wonderful and the "Nine kind apetizer" looked so beautiful we had to take a photo of it! Really enjoyed our experience here, and will be back to try more. Also it was friendly, relaxed and very good value. We were a bit cautious with our choices, but will definitely try more next time, bill came to less than £120 for 5 including a lot of Asahi, a lot of sake and 1 Mojito

Nice restaurant with v helpful staff. Totally packed for lunch which is a good sign. Short but sweet menu but quite authentic. Bill came to just under £12 each for spicy tuna roll (starter) and chicken plus rice & soup (main), which is not bad value.
NB fermented beans is an acquired taste but try the octopus fish balls!

We decided to check out this restaurant after having stumbled across it on this site. (Given the seriously tucked away location you're unlikely to stroll past by chance).
Overall I agree that is a good find. The atmosphere and decor are a bit quirky since it used to be a pub but the food was reasonably priced and authentic.
They serve possibly the best miso soup I've had in London - even my boyfriend agreed and he's not a miso soup fan - which is a good test, it is delicately flavoured with bonito and not too salty. The tuna sashmi was excellent quality and nicely cut. We also ate crisp spiced chicken wings, squid and a generous portion of sesame spinach. The salt-grilled salmon was ever so slightly overdone so maybe ask for it on the rare side?
We drank a fair bit of sake and bill came to about £50 for two which certainly seemed fair.
I think we'll go back even though our loyalty still lies with another Japanese restaurant (which I'm afraid I'm not allowed to disclose).

This is the best Japanese restaurant I've been to in London, and I've been to a few. The bar downstairs is great too.
