Looking for a Japanese restaurant in London, I found this one recieved the best reviews on *Japanese* websites. When we tried it, we couldn't wait to come back. The sushi/sashimi combinations are excellent, but the chargrilled scallops and salted prawn starters are unbelievable. Served with one of a selection of warm sakes, this makes for an authentic, delicious and thoroughly memorable evening for anyone who enjoys Japanese cuisine. The staff are friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is very relaxed and the menu is easily tailored to all types of budget. Heartily recommended.

This place more than lived up to the expectations set by some of the other reviews. Whilst the decor is slightly down at heal, the food was fantastic - the tuna in the mixed sashimi was sublime

It's great to find a trully authentic Japanese restaurant in London, with a vast range of dishes available, even natto. While the interior is a little haphazard, kind of "british pub meets chinese restaurant", there's a certain smell in here - maybe it's the hibachi grill - or maybe something else: strange, elusive. When I first walked in, I had a proustian moment remembering a great holiday I had in Japan - it's exactly the same smell as restaurants there.
This might explain why it's always full of ex-pats - but the great food and Asahi on draught might be a more prosaic explanation!
