Ten Ten Tei

Very good quality sushi at reasonable prices. The decor is not great but that is more than made up for by the quality of the food. The menu is extensive with all the usual sushi plus some more exotic dishes for the more adventurous. We paid £60 for a meal for two including a bottle of wine (£12) and tip (£6) and came away very full. I will definitely be going back.

I went to Ten Ten Tei on 03/01/2008 and had a marvellous Sushi lunch note that this was on a Tuesday - no fishing on New Years day, I assumed). I have eaten in Japan and know the quality that the fish has to be to be served this way. While the atmosphere could be found in downtown Yokohama, the food was marvellous. Congratulations on the quality, Ten Ten Tei - I will certainly return.

I have been here many times and always enjoyed the food. It is popular with Japanese and Londoners who have lived in Japan. Highly authentic good quality Japanese food for not much cost. Ignore the reviewer below who described the sushi as being sub-Yo sushi. It was either a bad day or he really does not his stuff.
The shabby appearance is a good sign for those after decent food who do not need to impress with surroundings or want to pay for it. Let's face, London is full of cool-looking Japanese restaurants, which charge a lot but disappoint on taste.
Here you can eat for about £20 and have a genuinely good meal. Well worth a visit.

Back for the fourth time- as usual a fantastic meal.
Don't let the fairly ugly decor put you off one of the best and freshest Japanese meals in town- avoid if you are looking for something that pleases the eye and not just the palate.

This place is an excellent find. It strikes me as extrememly authentic, particularly because of the number of Japanese diners, you really do feel like you wandered into some Tokyo backstreet.
The food was excellent, and the service invisible but prompt.
I have eaten there twice and plan to go on many more occassions.

I came here as a birthday treat. It was very disappointing. I love sushi, but there was nothing special about the Super-Special plate I ordered. What was tempura doing on a plate of sushi? The quality here was sub-Yo Sushi. What worried us was the speed at which the plate of 15 sushi items came out, clearly there was not enough time to have made each individual item, so they must have been pre-made. Worse still, I ordered additional nigiri, which were way over-salted.
My friend , who was treating me, was very upset at being told that last call was 9:30, which is pretty early for a saturday night in Soho, but I think by then I was done with this place anyway.

I went to this place last summer- I personally thought it wasn't all tht despite my friend insisting that it was great and the many reviews here backing up her opinion.
Not too fussed with the waiting time since I'm used to Misato's, but we were seated downstairs and there were at least 10 of us but we managed to get an area together which was good.
Here's the negative bit- we ordered our food- I ordered Chicken Katsu curry and tbh, it was something I could've made myself in the kitchen- but I would've made it better. This curry was bland, too thick and stew like. To top it off, we heard the microwave ding before we got serve.
All in all, I wouldnt recommend this place.

Went a couple of weeks ago with my sister (who fancies herself a bit of a sushi expert). We thought it was pretty good. Decor is a bit rough and ready and then smoking was allowed downstairs. Menu is long, lots of sushi options but hot food as well, which is really nice. We didn't know what we wanted so ordered a few things, then kept the menu and added more later. The waitress was very sweet and happy for us to do that. We had eel nigiri (my favourite - very good), tempura hand roll (excellent), grilled mackerel (nice), and lots of other nigiri - all very fresh, well executed etc. Prices are OK, not massively cheap but reasonable. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere, lots of Japanese people eating which is definitely a good sign.

A great little hideaway!
This Japanese restaurant feels like a Sushi joint I would have found down one of Tokyo's many side streets whilst I was living there last year. Nothing fancy, but good service and authentic food.

A colleague of mine recommended this place as "somewhere the Japanese go to eat, which is a good sign. But don't be put off by the venue". I love it when somebody shows you a secret like this. And it lived up to its reputation. Fast, friendly service, an extensive menu, and as much sushi as we needed to fill our ravenous stomachs. £16 each (excluding drinks).
I was there at lunchtime. All the previous reviews criticise smoking downstairs... my advice to the management would be to prohibit it now. But hey, it will be banned in 2 weeks anyway, so job done.
Well done Ten Ten Tei... just don't let all the compliments go to your heads and hike the prices! Keep the decor simple, and the food excellent.
