This place looks like a funeral service. A dead atmosphere. Staff are cold and emotionless. But the sushi is the most authentic you will ever eat in London and the freshest as well as the cheapest so if it has closed down, it is a real tragedy because Atariya is a chain and they go for high class style and fusion over substance. Nowhere better for real sushi in London.

Think this place is closed, replaced by Atari-Ya. What a shame...

I have had the pleasure of eating at Sushi Hiro for many years. Having tried Sushi all over London and overseas Sushi Hiro provides some of the best Japanese food I have eaten. The restaurant has been established for many years in an area of Ealing, West London where many Japanese families reside. Sushi Hiro is small, unobstusive with a nice Sushi bar and an option for take-away.

Like some other readers I have sometimes chanced my luck when pasing by and found the restaurant full. So please book in advance if that is an option.

I am a regular visitor to Sushi hiro, Sushi hiro is defintely one of the best sushi place in London. The rice ratio and taste is what a sushi expert also look into as well, the rice in sushi hiro is what a real sushi should taste like. Some more simple sushi like Tomogo (egg), Inari( soya skin) are nicely prepared, it has reflected the basic skills of the chefs!

The only down side is you are likely to get turn down if you do not have a reservation. The waitress can only communicate in simple english. There has been several occasions that they missed some of my ordered. >6pcs, the waitress seems not believe in this! but its true! So make sure you get what you have ordered. Don't expect a lot of customer skills or service in this place, we were once being stared by the waitress because they think we are being cheeky about the missing sushi!

The oldest chef made the best sushi, the rice is nicely stable but not solid like a dough. FUTOMAKI is also my favourite.

Try to go in weekdays, not weekend. Since in weekend there isn't any fresh fish.

A small and nice sushi-bar which serves what they do the best I guess.

The fish is fresh and sushi well prepared.

I hope it will stay as good as now in the future. I recommend that restaurant to sushi lovers.

Sushi Hiro is a plain, clean, wam, and simple place that offers impossilbly superb sushi. Some may say the atmospher is too sober, but in Japan the best sushi places are the same. If a sushi restaurant serves you sushi under candle light, has jazz music in the back, have service staff calling you with your first name and offers a calfornian roll or spicy tuna role, it is not real sushi restaurant, it is a TGI Friday version of Sushi restaurant.

The portion is just small enough to call itself a proper sushi. if you are looking for a filling portion, again, you know where the TGIs are, so go there instead. Theh bowl of miso is served boiling hot, which is just the way it should be.

Fantastic value for the money too, if you think of the freshness of the fish and the rice. I can taste that their rice does not come from Carfolnia. It is proper Japanese rice, prepared with the best care.

Worth the travel to Ealing. Just make sure you book advance, the place is tiny.

Pig Pig's Corner

Pig Pig's Corner

Friday, November 20, 2009 - We ate unagi (eel), toro (tuna belly), salmon, mackerel, scallop, seabream, seabass, yellowtail, surf clam, crab, squid, ama ebi (sweet shrimp), salmon eggs; in summary they were all very fresh and there were no complaints at all...It was always going to be a bit hard to impress me after the spotted prawns, but the anago (sea eel) managed to do just that. Although it looked like a bit of a mess on the plate, the incredibly creamy texture was just amazing. Although I've eaten unagi (freshwater eel) several times before, this anago is new to me and it was a delight to try.

Wednesday, July 22, 2009 - Sushi-Hiro isn't for vegetarians or those who aren't fans of raw fish, and the menu lists just sushi and sashimi. There are no noodle, rice or little starter dishes either, unlike at other Japanese restaurants. For those who are fans, it's sushi heaven!...The total came to less than 40 for two, including sake and tea, but not service charge. I'm looking forward to the next meal, when I'll probably order sushi a la carte and try the sashimi as well. There are no frills at Sushi-Hiro, but who needs them when there is such fresh fish and seafood on offer?
