Carmelli

I've lived and breathed Carmeli's all my adult life - in fact I was in there at 10pm last night (and I live 100 miles from there). It's a mecca for the best bagels and cholla you can get anywhere with a cheesecake I've eaten since the early 1990s that I have 3lb of in my fridge now. The staff aren't rude - you either understand Israeli's or you don't - it's not meant rudely it's just life and you get served and you go. It's never going to win prizes for customer service but then who cares. Pop next door to the deli and get your chopped liver, egg and onion and your fishballs and even this righteous gentile can eat happily.

I used to think that putting up the staff was worth it for the food, but then I realised that not only do they not deserve my money, but also I got the impression that they didn't want it.
The behaviour of the staff is despicable; they are rude, talk about you between themselves and have no concept of saying 'please' or 'thank you'. I recently asked them not to put my food in a plastic bag (I only live over the road!) but was met with the dirtiest look and had to listen to the ignorant checkout girls discussing why I might not want a bag and laughing.

The first and last time I went to Carmelli I was served a sweet-cheese pastry, where the cheese had gone completely sour. It was disgusting. It may have been bad luck on that one time, so if your reading this you may not want to take this as something that happens every day there, but it put me off completely.

This place is the saviour of so many people.....can always be relied upon to soak up some of the alcohol in the early hours of a Sunday morning with a fabulous tuna bagel or pastry.....staff are of course rude but then who cares when you're drunk and hungry!
I dont know what the popluation of North/North West London would do without Carmellis!!!!
