Shalom Hot Bagel Bakery

This is a deli, not a restaurant or cafe and bakes and sells the best bread for miles around. There is no other choice for bagels and cholla. When bread is this good you don't need a smile as well.

I have to disagree with the last reviewer about service. The assistant could hardly have been more helpful. The bagels are to die for and at 22p each are a giveaway. I have yet to try the rye bread and the chollah but I'm sure they'll be just as good.

Excellent food, bagels hot from the oven and the smell that no other cuisine can match. Upon walking into this small yet comprehensively stocked bakery, its difficult not to notice that all goods are cooked directly in front of you. More than this, the sheer selection of baked good is truly vast and at a glance, mouth watering. Although the service is swift and the food is exceptional, there is however defiantly something lacking. I will plough straight in and use the word that I feel fits flawlessly and best describes the staff, Unhelpful, in fact, Obstructive. How difficult is it to serve a customer and occasionally turn a soured, malevolent stare into a pleasant and welcoming smile? Is asking for something to be “heated up” that much of a chore? Perhaps asking for less cream cheese than the “Mount Everest” equal of cream cheese that you carelessly and unsympathetically paste onto my poor bagel with your un-gloved hand. Shalom Bagel Bakery, your baking skills are without a doubt equal to that of master bakers, but alas your customer service skills are as beneficial as a paper umbrella in a heavy storm.
