Blooms

i won't waste my time reviewing it again but let the sentiment of this note be a warning to anyone yearning for a bit of eastern european ashkenasi charm and some quality jewish food - look elsewhere, you will find overpriced loveless food.
sorry guys. i'm sure if you tried a bit harder you'd be packed out....

I have not eaten in Blooms since I left the UK in1939. Blooms was on the corner of Brick Lane and Wentworth Street. The food was excellent. The sign hanging from the corner of the building said "Buy Blooms Best Beef". I believe that the empty iron frame holding the sign still hangs there. Based on the reviews, I will not eat here on my next trip to London. I liked the Brick Lane Beigel Bakery. I went to school near there.Their prices are a mere fraction of Selfridges' prices. I would like to know of other places to eat comparable to the places I frequent in 'Boca Raton and Delrary.

Fancy trying out a Jewish restaurant in London, don't make it Blooms! Thinking of either eating in the restaurant or ordering a delivery to eat in the comfort of your home, don't bother. The customer service is rude and the food will not be up to the standards a restaurant should be. This is coming from a nice Jewish girl who knows good food!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to blooms. I went with a friend who had practically grown up in there, visiting each week with her family. The food was great, the atmosphere busy yet a bit too noisy. We had a charming waiter serve us, a real character with a handlebar moustache. not only did we eat well, but felt very welcome and extremely entertained! Back in Leeds now, I really look forward to my next visit to london and Blooms.

I have been going to this place for 30 of my 36 years. The service is appaling, the food over cooked and full of salt and fat, and the atmosphere a little like what you get if you cross a crehe and an over-60's bridge club, but who cares? This is Blooms, an institution of Jewish north London, and I will return...

I remember going to Blooms when I was a toddler and wanted to go back to this well known Jewish Restaurant.
My girlfriend Lisa lives close by and has never been into Blooms, I was most surprised.
Upon arrival we instantly got that traditional feel. It was about 12.30 on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was quite busy. I had a salt beef sandwich of course with a potato latka while my girlfriend had a turkey sandwich, but the food just wasn't as I remembered. Although it was lovely and the latka was superb, the sandwiches were small though compared to what I was expecting. I did think it would be in thick, large bread and the filling falling out after every bite, its as I remember it to be!
The cost was expensive for lunch but I would go back on a cold winters day to try the chicken soup as it did look lovely.
