Thursday, June 06, 2013 - It is just as well that Rotheram is an outstanding cook; despite their erratic sequencing, his dishes proved both muscular and elegant. Braised peas came with a feathery grating of Berkswell cheese (£9). Bocca di lupo, a species of ravioli, came stuffed with goats’ curd in a nettle slick that tasted like the smell of a freshly mown cricket pitch (£10). Two toothsome duck chipolatas arrived with a punchy slaw (£9); artichokes swam in a rich allium broth (£10); a spring salad was decorated with nasturtiums and contained the buried treasure of some lightly pickled carrots (£6).

Sunday, July 28, 2013 - Each dish embraces no more than a few ingredients, used intelligently together to highlight the flavours of the other...Asparagus came draped with a perfect fried egg and shavings of truffles, slivers of fatty middlewhite pork lifted by pickled fennel and creamy pink fir potatoes scattered with rich Lincolnshire Poacher and wild garlic. Best of all, a crispy fried quail, battered in a light crust the Colonel could only dream of, served simply with a few blobs of umami packed mushroom ketchup. And chicken butter!

Tuesday, June 19, 2012 - Charity considerations aside, Fifteen is a rip-off. A watery saddle of lamb, the flesh having a good tender texture but surrounded by a thick, rubbery strip of inedible skin (and not at all 'crispy' as our waiter insisted), sat on top of a bed of crumbly overcooked beans and was completely dull. It cost an incredible 24 quid. A Sicilian Fisherman's Stew had a single big langoustine on top which presumably was the reason they felt they could charge an astonishing 28 pounds for an otherwise very mediocre bowl of tomatoes and cheap fish...I'm done with the Oliver brand now, and it's somewhat of a relief.

Tuesday, July 13, 2010 - Fifteen is still going strong, which is nice to see given its giving-back-to-the-community mission. On a Sunday evening, the place was packed, and the room is comfortable and still stylish after all these years. The food is better-than-average, so it's a nice option to have if you’re in need of a mid-priced meal in Hoxton. Then again, on the basis of food and price alone, I'd rather walk a tad further to eat at Pizza East or stay in my neighborhood and walk to Trullo.
