After bad experiences with Korean restaurants in New Malden, it was with very low expectations I visited Sorabol with friends as I was in the area. I'm Korean and have tasted the best Korea can offer while living In Korea for 4 years. After having been to sorabol however, I now know where I can go to get my fix of authentic Korean food, and won't be going anywhere else!

We were greeted warmly by staff who were friendly, non-intrusive and attentive. Our starters of fried beef in sweet sauce and seafood pancakes were light any crispy . Our mains of barbecued meats were succulent and tender, the 3 different types of meats all excellent quality and marinated beautifully. They lavish just as much attention on side dishes, their kimchi(korean pickles) was spicy, tangy and garlicky, not watered down to suit western tastes.

We were also impressed with the range of traditional Korean liquor sorabol had in stock, and perhaps ordered too much of it! Our group of friends, Korean and other nationalities alike, loved all the food and the experience, and the bill at the end was very reasonable for what was a 2 or more hours of eating and boozing! We will definitely be returning.

This restaurant is truly outstanding. I have had many Korean meals over the years both in the UK and in Korea and Sorabol is right up there with the very best. The food is excellent and the service absolutely first class. Enjoy!

Both my partner and myself are huge fans of Sorabol. We have tried many Korean restaurants in New Malden and so far, this is the best. The quality and portion of the meals are good and the service is excellent! The lady owner always have a smile on her face! Only negative point is that they serve Koreans different side dish and do not charge them for hot tea. Well...I guess this applies for the majority of other Asian restaurants.

World Foodie Guide - 6/10

Friday, April 24, 2009 - The star dish was most definitely the mung bean soufflé pancake, which was so simple and yet so delicious. Charmaine said it reminded her of polenta, as it had that rough, home-made texture about it…Being a little unadventurous when it comes to Korean food, I did get to sample some dishes I hadn’t eaten before. However, a couple were far better than the rest.
