Went here for my birthday the other night, and I consider this place to be the best Korean restaurant ever. I've been to Korea, and I think the food, service and ambience even out did the country itself. We'll definitely be back! top marks.

Me and my boyfriend decided to eat here over Su La after the reviews here and on timeout. After sitting down for two minutes the waitress asked were we ready to order (in Korean) which we replied not ready and then the suddenly face change of the waitress we felt discriminated, as we are Chinese.
The free jug of water contained brown bits so we weren't obliged to drink it and ordered 2 cokes which didn't arrive until prompted 20mins later. First arrived was the fried shrimp in chilli sauce then came the kimchi and namul, the this actually came first for an old couple of which one was English that just sat down and ordered. Then came the mixed vegetable and rice in the hot stone bowl, and the mixed seafood pancake. After finishing these then came the squid in chilli sauce only 20mins too late after we had finished eating. The shrimps were good and the rice, the pancake felt undercooked on one side and the squid wasn't even worth mentioning.
There were two waitresses - the older one which served us which didn't look happy not even smiled once and gave us a fed up looking face, the other younger one looked busy walking around doing nothing. Nevertheless it came to the end and time for the bill - prompted twice again, and we had a piece of honey melon, the previous mentioned couple got a piece of melon and an orange. The bill came to about £36, for lunch, didn't include any bbqs or wines or beers, a bad service, discrimination and it's even outside of central London. Compared to eating regularly at Ran and Arirang in the central, we felt our trip to New Malden was a disappointment.
It was ironic when it came to the tips - when we first arrived another Chinese family was leaving and they weren't even going to leave a tip but in the end they decided to leave the change - that was 20p, we thought it was quite amusing pondering whether to leave the 20p tip, then it came to us....... for that level of service we left 30p.... may sound embarassing but for an overpriced meal and bad service 30p was the best we could do - it was 30p because we rounded our bill up to the nearest pound!

After reading about this restaurant within Cheap eats - Time Out 2007, I thought that I would give it a try with my japanese wife. Unfortunately, none of the staff spoke english (although they speak Korean, Chinese and Japanese). Food was late by 40 minutes. All the Korean regulars, who arrived after us, were served first. My wife`s food only arrived when we decided to leave and asked for the bill. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you go with somebody Korean.

Very authentic, even more tasty. Excellent sweet and sour pork, good steamed dumplings and the barbeque dishes we tried - marinated chicken and beef spare ribs, the latter cooked at the table - were fantastic.
The complementary tea served on arrival was a pleasant surprise, and the imported Korean lager - Prime - was crisp and refreshing.
A great, relaxed Korean dining experience, with a hilarious Korean soap opera running on the TV in the background, but for me the highlight was the speedy and attentive service that puts central london restaurants to shame.

This was my first taste of Korean food in London. I have to say it was very cozy and friendly. It reminded me of the restaurant I used to go to in Chicago. My mom is Korean, so I know when the Dolsot Bibimbap and Kim Chi are good--and their Haemul Pajun is also delicious!!...yum...my friends and I left with full stomachs and smiles on our faces. I will definitely go back.
