Food was more than disappointing and the house specialties far too expensive.

Great place. I'd have walked past it easily had I not been with a friend who already knew it, but my goodness what a gem. Decor is dated, but cute, very clean place. Food was excellent and speedy, managed three courses, plates clean and it was very good value.
Aside from the food. The highlight of the evening was the lovely lady at the door, just lovely, chatty, constantly smiling, just a great person who made us feel very welcome and more importantly at home. Will definitely come back even if I'm not hungry just to say hi! Recommended, deffo.

Fantastic. I've been in eating in Melati for years and it is by far the best Malaysian joint in London. Jackie is always there with a big smile to welcome us and the food is amazing. Yes, it is a little old but lets face it, if they been around for 40 years its got to be something... although in my last visit the table clothes were gone and brand new wood tables were brought in and it even got re branded!!!
Downside - the place is over 3 floors, always try and sit in the ground floor, always.

As my wife is Malaysian and she wanted to try somewhere different in Soho (we usually go to Arbutus, Kettners or Bocca Di Lupo) she suggested Melati in Gt Windmill St. It is not in the most attractive location in Soho and were soon to find that the food was equally disappointing. My wife said that she has had tastier food at the hawker stalls in KL and Penang. Our advice is - don't bother with this restaurant.
