Ramen Taro

I always enjoyed visiting Taro's restaurant for the friendly service and good food but hadn't returned due to poor service on two visits. Last week, sushi, chicken, ... sounded good, and I returned. Sadly, the service had continued its decline. As I waited to order, I felt ignored. The food arrived slowly; the sushi became a belated dessert.
As I left, I realized a new Japanese restaurant was needed. This was a sad thought as I really enjoyed Taro's friendly service and good food in the past.

I would give this restaurant a wide berth, there are a number of far better restaurants in a similar price bracket in the area. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Don and my friend the Chicken Curry and scarily the chicken in the dishes was interchangeable. My dish was plain chicken on soggy cabbage and stiff rice with something trying to pass itself off as teriyaki causce drizzled over it - quite vile. Hers was stiff rice with a row of (the same) chicken and a load of not very nice curry sauce. It also only took 2 minutes between ordering and the food arriving which says it all really.

Excellent value for money, as it doesn't promise a great deal and exceeeds expectations by a fair margin. The sushi is excellent, the beer is cold, and the service is on the money.

Recently went here for a quick bite with a mate. Sushi was nice but the noodle dishes were most disappointing. Ramen resembled yesterday's leftovers in stale-smelling gravy. Yuck. Beers were pricey and service indifferent. Seating very cramped. And yes, there are better Japanese eateries nearby. On this evidence, best avoided.

Whenever I feel sorry for myself I go to Taro for a Beef Teryaki Don... and all of a sudden, all is well with the world. This place rocks. Go there now! The people are nice, it can be a bit chilly by the door... but you'll be that busy wolfing down your delectable dinner, you won't even notice! Less than a tenner for food of your dreams!

Pleasant fairly buzzy restaurant. Quite bright!! Went with a vegan friend who was happy that there were at least a few choices.
Friendly staff, not too expensive.
Nice but not the most amazing experience i have had eating out. Worth a try though.

Fantastic restaurant! Food Glorious Food! Good Service! eventhough it has got a very small place but food and price are great. I think I dont agree about the latest comment.named (Lisa), everybody would expect all those things specially when the food is great and a lot of people coming back and make the place so busy and crazy about the food!! anyway you can't pleased everyone.

Extremely rude service. Cannot deny the food serve is decent for what you can find in London but defiantely not worth having to put up with rude service by non-japanese serving people who try to squeeze you into the smallest possible table possible to optimise serving opportunities. Just one moment down the street you get genuine Japanese food with friendly smiles @ Ten Ten Tei. PLus with better prices! Not worth the effort.
