I have been regularly eating at Patogh for almost 5 years now. I use to really like this restuarant, the large portions of buttered rice, the tender kebabs and the amazing bread... It even made the cramped seating, rude staff and long waits worth it!

I would best describe my relationship with this one as a love/hate relationship.

I hate the decor, the embarassing queues outside for up to 50 mins in the cold only for the waiter to be rude and unfriendly.

I love the food... well mostly the bread. All props but its still the best bread in London.

Then i realised that (asides from the bread) most Persian food is of the same quality being quite simple in its cooking and that its initial attraction was only partly due to the extortionate arabic/lebonese restaurants in the direct vacinity of Edgware Road. Compared to these Patogh was refreshing.

Last week i even booked a table in advance. Turned up and they told me to wait outside as i was less then 5 minutes late.

A gem of a restaurant when you want good food, my husband has been going to pautogh's since he arrived in london years ago, and when his friends get together they always go there.

After hearing so much about the place I was very shocked to enter the small little restaurant the first time i went there. It was full to the brim and had people queing for a table. Tthe tables were basic and packed in. I was soon to realise apperance are very decieveing, the food on that day and for the past 4 years still remains freash and tender and delicious, the staff are always helpful, and you soon realise the premises make the whole experience very intimate and enjoyable, even our two year old son who is very fussy eater loves it and finishes the food on his plate. food is well priced and all halal, and the sauces on each table mean you can spice up or calm down your food to suit your taste.

in summary very very great basic good food, the only bad side is sometimes you may have to wait awhile for a table, but definatly well worth the wait.

If you want a safe bet on good fulfilling warm up yout tum tum food patoughs the place to go.

This place does good food, very cheap and BYO. Service is also friendly.

The highlight is the fresh flatbread, lamb kebabs are full of flavour of a bit fatty and chewy. Ultimately though, I have been there a couple of times and I struggle to see quite why it gets the rave reviews.

There are other places in town, especially this part of town, or the turkish areas, doing very good grilled meat and fresh baked bread at low prices, without the queues and cramped interior.
