Hafez is definitely my favourite Persian restaurant. They have freshly made traditional dishes made daily, delicious kebabs and also delicious starters which go well with the freshly baked bread. I hugely recommend this restaurant for quality food.

I'm puzzled by the two reviews that mention belly dancers, as I've never seen any at the Hereford Road branch of Hafez in the nineteen years I've been going there. As another reviewer said, it only seats about twenty five people so there isn't much space for belly dancers.
I've always found the service to be friendly and courteous, too, and I don't go there often enough to be recognised as a regular.
The food is almost always good, although the last time I went there, the chello ghaime bademjan (spelling? - lamb stew with tomato, aubergine and yellow split peas, my favourite) had no split peas in it. The rice and starters are always good. The bread is great, too, when freshly-cooked.

My friend and I went there for a dinner and the food and the service was very good, especially the fresh bread they had.
We are planning to go there again.

I went there with my girlfriend. It was our first night out of Lisbon & I wished to show her a glimpse of my Persian heritage. I was told that Hafez could fulfill it providing live music performances & great food. Well, the food was Ok but the service was not really what I expected. We had to wait more than usual for a kebab. We finally got our dinner but what I liked the least in this restaurant were the belly dancers who totally ruined our night. Hafez claims to be a Persian restaurant & carries the name of the greatest Persian poet. Arabic rhythms combined with Turkish Belly dancing were not exactly what I wanted to show my friend of our culture. I had to spend an hour to explain to my girl friend that watching an Arabian erotic show has nothing to do with the Persian traditions of having dinner. Belly dancing can absolutely have no place in our culture & I would NOT recommend this restaurant to any other Persian.

I have visited the restaurant for so many times and there was not any problem untill few month ago. I organised for some friend to go there and try the persian food and learn the language as well. having arrived a bit earlier than the others (around 7 pm) a friend of mine collapsed when she tried to entre the restaurand and the unhelpfulll staf reaction was not what you can expect. answering another person who was curious about the accident he only wisspered that "we never had this problem before. probebly she is blind). when we asked the guy for his unusuall behaviour he was even more arrogant and not even a single word of appology. we immidateley left the place and arranged for another place and would not go there again even the food is the best one in the world. Not to mention that during our 10-15 minutes there no one approached us to serve us as the waiter was busy chattin g with his mate over the phone. there are some other places that you may consider if you wish to try the iranian food such as Alonak or Mohsen.

My family has been going to Hafez for over 15 years now and we love it. The food comes in big portions and the quality is out of this world. Surely the best Iranian restaurant in London
