My friend and I went there for a dinner and the food and the service was very good, especially the fresh bread they had.
We are planning to go there again.

I went there with my girlfriend. It was our first night out of Lisbon & I wished to show her a glimpse of my Persian heritage. I was told that Hafez could fulfill it providing live music performances & great food. Well, the food was Ok but the service was not really what I expected. We had to wait more than usual for a kebab. We finally got our dinner but what I liked the least in this restaurant were the belly dancers who totally ruined our night. Hafez claims to be a Persian restaurant & carries the name of the greatest Persian poet. Arabic rhythms combined with Turkish Belly dancing were not exactly what I wanted to show my friend of our culture. I had to spend an hour to explain to my girl friend that watching an Arabian erotic show has nothing to do with the Persian traditions of having dinner. Belly dancing can absolutely have no place in our culture & I would NOT recommend this restaurant to any other Persian.

I have visited the restaurant for so many times and there was not any problem untill few month ago. I organised for some friend to go there and try the persian food and learn the language as well. having arrived a bit earlier than the others (around 7 pm) a friend of mine collapsed when she tried to entre the restaurand and the unhelpfulll staf reaction was not what you can expect. answering another person who was curious about the accident he only wisspered that "we never had this problem before. probebly she is blind). when we asked the guy for his unusuall behaviour he was even more arrogant and not even a single word of appology. we immidateley left the place and arranged for another place and would not go there again even the food is the best one in the world. Not to mention that during our 10-15 minutes there no one approached us to serve us as the waiter was busy chattin g with his mate over the phone. there are some other places that you may consider if you wish to try the iranian food such as Alonak or Mohsen.

My family has been going to Hafez for over 15 years now and we love it. The food comes in big portions and the quality is out of this world. Surely the best Iranian restaurant in London

This restaurant has the worst service imaginable. The food is even worse. Truly a shame that it is still even operating.

i visited Hafez last Friday, the food was greasy and bland. The kebabs looked grey and unintersting. The Starter didn't smell fresh. I shall not be returning.

The problem with this restaurant does not lie with the food, but with the atrocious service. The restaurant is fairly small (approx 25 people), and I simply fail to see how it can take over 20 minutes to get the attention of a member of staff to provide us with menus, especially when the place was only half full at arrival. I know it took that long because there was a giant clock on the wall opposite of me. Courtesy levels were generally at a minimum throughout our visit.
Between the two of us, we had maast-moosir and kashk for starters, and koobideh and baghali polo with meat for the main course. The moosir was thick and flavourful, and the kashk was tasty, albeit perhaps a little to greasy for our liking. The koobideh was just right, and a superior choice to the baghali, although I don't regret ordering that - it's a nice change to the traditional kebab dishes. The cost was £30 for two meals with non-alcoholic drinks.
It's a real shame that the service removes any desire of mine to return here. I had already been here once before, and enjoyed the food but felt like a second-class citizen; especially compared to the family on the adjacent table who clearly knew the owners; 6 months on, nothing has changed. There's no way I could recommend Hafez with this in mind. There are simply too many restaurants in London that offer comparable food and value for money whilst maintaining higher customer relations standards.

Yesterday i visited Hafez restaurant for the first time, after seeing it on this website. I found the food to be probably the best persian cusine in the UK, and the service was almost perfect. A friend of mine says that the live music is a brilliant reflection of persian culture, and that the belly-dancers are a must see.
I will definatley be visiting the restaurant again, and I strongly recommend it to persians and those who wish to experience the persian culture and cuisine.
Cameron.
