Mohsen

I hang out in Persian restaurants with friends, dates and partners in crime so much that I've come to think of myself as a bit of a Persian food connoisseur. Or Persian male tart!
There are no two ways about it; Mohsen sells the best Persian food in London. Before you start throwing your arms up in protest I'll add that Alounak, just down the road, has the better 'experience' mainly because of the decor and is thus the better place for a first date when you need to impress. But if it's food and food alone you crave Mohsen is for you.
In terms of atmosphere it used to be like eating in your mum’s kitchen but the recent refurbishment has improved the previously sub-standard furnishings (even though they look like it’s come staright from Homebase across the road) . My personal favourite moment of the Mohsen experience is interacting with the owner, a charming if somewhat slightly neurotic lady who insists on talking Persian with me after my half hearted attempts of saying hello and how are you. Her very presence makes this place what it is and when she’s not there I leave feeling forlorn – as if I missed the dessert course.
I recommend all the starters; the mains are all also good with a particular favourite of mine being the Barg - delicious!

The food in this place is the best of all persian restaurants I have been to. The decor and atmosphere is the only let down and that is currently being put right by refurbishment. Wouldn't go anywhere else for persian food. The marks for food and value for money above are by no means a fair reflection of this place. Food 10/10. Value 9/10

I have tried most of the Persian restaurants in London and this one is the best by far! If you haven't tried it, go there tonight!!!
The food is superb, I had my wedding reception here and the English guests were initially wary of eating Persian food for the first time but every single one of them loved it!
I can't recommend it highly enough... very reasonable prices, great food every time.

After reading the previous rewiews, I went to Mohsen after not having been for a few years to see the joyful sounding 'secret garden' with some friends unfamiliar with Persian Cuisine. The food was plenty, and very tasty, however the 'secret garden' should perhaps be kept a 'secret garden'! It is not very attractive, the conservatory style glass ceiling is covered with green, and the floor of the 'secret garden' was flooded in puddles!
It is about 20pounds pp, for meal, drink, starters, tea etc.
However, like I said, the food here is delicious, but I recommend you sit inside and not in the grimy garden area!
