Once i walked in Rick`s Cafe i was shown a seat the service was great an the food dont get me started it was great from start 2 finish i enjoyed it that much i wud recumend it to any 1 in tooting

Once again Ricks came up trumps. We went to celebrate a birthday and the fact we are leaving London. Ricks will certainly be one thing I shall miss very much about Tooting - the steak which almost everyone had was superd - my crab starter was very refreshing and the chocolate cake we had ordered was deliciously indulgent. Superb value and wonderful friendly service once again.

Overpriced, bordering on disgusting food.

The starter of goat cheese soufle was lovely in itself but completely ruined by the side puddle of plum jam which accompanied it. My friends fared no better, one of them tucking into the bizarre combination of asparagus tips with fried egg whilst the other professed to enjoy chillied whitebait. Main was no better; my medium-rare steak came out of the kitchen as tough as old boots and was so tasteless it could only be rescued by draining it in the sticky chillie jam that accompanied the soggy chips. On the owner's advice my wife plumped for the roasted cod (not surprising when it was double the price of the musroom risottoe she was considering), this tasted decidely less then fresh and was only saved by the side of fresh salad that accompanied it. Our friends bowl of squid looked frankly disgusting. From a good looking pudding menu I chose the sticky toffee pudding, oh dear, instead of steaming sponge i received a slab of dry cake with very sweet sauce. Must admit my friend's rhubarb crumble looked good as did the cheese board on the neigbouring table. This place does not deserve the reputation Tootingites give it. Very disapointing.

I feel that I have to write to villify Ricks. Everyone knows that people love to complain but are less quick to compliment which is this case is a disgrace. The gentleman who had the audaciity to insinuate that we Tooting dwellers only come here for the nice surroundings should hurry back to whatever snotty part of Clapham he came from and leave Ricks to us because quite simply over the past three years I have never had bad food or bad service. Ricks offers a contemporary bistro style menu that people return for time and again. Don't worry Ricks - we still love you.

I went to Ricks Cafe for the 2nd time on the 22.12.05. Abmittedly, the first time was a bit of a let down. However, on this occasion the establishment more than redeemed itself. My starter (Roast Vegatable tart) was generous in portion and had a fine melt in the mouth quality. For main I had Pheasant, not the most succulant I have tasted and let down by the accompanying vinagary cabbage but nontheless considering the price on balance a good dish. To complete I had a delicate apple and woodland berry crumble with ice cream. As the menu is often changed I will be returning to this establishment. After a few Modern European howlers Ricks Cafe has gone some to restoring my faith. Price £23 including service. I rest my case.
