Kasbah

Well where do i begin......oh thats right with the water and if anyone can get this wrong then it's the Kasbah. We were wanting to quench our thirst and cleanse our palates and all we did was start a journey that would end with huge disappointment.
How can water taste greasy? Unpolished watermarked glasses, a surly waiter, limp salad that had obviously been prepared much earlier in the day. Even the olives had been plated too early, leaving them paradoxically dry skinned and mushy!
The cheese and spinach pastry had been fried in the same oil as the fish... so not a great place for veggies / vegans. The chicken tagine was bland with very little meat... more chicken in a Tesco's sandwich. The skewered kebabs were fine but nothing special... the local late night kebab shop could deliver better on both taste and price. The couscous was dry. Presentation of whole meal was sub standard.
Wine list was limited but we found an ok but young wine that improved after some airing.
Didn't bother with dessert or coffees... we're not gluttons for punishment. The waiter did not even ask if we enjoyed the meal as i'm pretty certain he knew what our answer would be.
It comes to something that when we were leaving and saw a young couple entering for what they probably thought would be a romantic and exotic meal that i was close to shouting out that they would have better luck at Abduls Kebabs around the corner....but i didn't and for that i will forever feel guilty!
Will not be going here again and cannot say enough to dissuade future patrons.

We had probaly the best i have evr tasted and couscous, i have loved couscous for many years but this again was the best ever. The service was prompt and very polite although the place was quite full we never had to wait long, the wine was excellent and very reasonable. A genuine Morrocan restaurant in the heart of Clapham right opposite Clapham Picture House. The owner cooks the best sort of food you would find if you visited the country itself. The meat Tagines, Couscous and Kebabs are delicious but vegetarians won't feel left out either. The wines really complement the food and if you have a sweet tooth don't forget to finish your meal with the syrup drenched pastries. The decor is reminisent of restaurants in Morroco including a special room at the back of the restaurant decorated with draped fabric to create a tent, particularly suitable for parties. The service is very friendly and efficient and certainly one of my favourite restaurants in London.

This restuarant is really nice for couples who want an intimdate african experience. The staff are kind and appreciative of being tipped. I left 5 pounds for our waitor and he was very happy.
The food is good. The people are nice. What more?
