This is a quality restaurant. If you live in W2 and W11 and havent been here you are missing out. Compare price and quality to E&O and Uli wins hands down every time. Best egg fried rice in London, and a charming host to boot.

Recently were there for dinner. After reading the reviews, had high expectations of the place. But were very disappointed as we often have Asian food. If you're looking for authentic Thai, Chinese, Malaysian, or Singapore food this is not the place. There are better places in the local area.
The salt peppered soft shell crab was just soft shell crab fried in normal batter - nothing salty or peppery about it. Had better ones in other places. Fish fillet in szechuan sauce - the fish fillet seemed to be fried in a starchy batter and the sauce seemed to have come from a bottle from the supermart, with some cut chillies added to it. Were shocked when the putt thai (noodle) was served - it was fried in a red sweet sauce similar to that of the fish fillet. That didn't taste and look like a putt thai at all - there were hardly any ingredients in it esp. chicken. The Putt thai from takeaways were much better. The thai green chicken curry appeared to be like thai green chicken soup - not much of ingredients.
Overall we found the food to be relative pricey, the portions small and the used of ingredients miserly. The service was satisfactory.

We braved the Arctic conditions last night for our first trip to Uli and were richly rewarded. The service was friendly and helpful and the food was magic.
The menu is a mixture of Chinese and Thai, which we found covered off most of our cravings. Shanghai Steamed Dumplings - a recommendation from the waitress - were spicy but soft and we would have ordered more but for New Year's resolutions. My partner has lived in China and thought these the best dumplings he'd had in London. Shreds of Chicken were really tasty too, sweet but lots of garlic and spring onion flavour. Really more-ish. Sesame Covered Prawns were flavoursome, though we could have done with a couple more, my only criticism.
For mains, Thai Basil Chicken and Beef in Black Bean Sauce were also pretty damned good, and from previous takeaway visits I can also recommend the Steamed Singapore Chicken and Crispy Chilli Beef.
All up a good experience from a pretty unassuming restaurant. They pack them in - every table was taken last night, the first Tuesday in January, so they're in demand. And whenever I've been in for takeaway it's the same, so you might be wise to book.
Good value on the whole too - £3 for a Japanese beer, which we thought was pretty cheap and the wine list was reasonable.
Highly recommend it.

Uli is my old time favourite restaurant!! I don't know why I have never written a review before but it's about time!!! This is a hidden jewell. Best food, we love thhe crispy chilli beef especially!! Best is to listen to what Michael, the owner, suggests you to eat.
A big bonus is that we always get a free drink at the end of the night!!!
