Lombok

I dined there with a couple of friends during the summer ‘05. After the meal the waitress came running out of the restaurant shouting vile language because I refused to tip after being treated very unfairly by the owner/manager.

It was disgusting behaviour and all the staff need to learn some manners or lose customers.

I have never been treated like that before, and now that I dine at all the other restaurants surrounding Herne Hill, doubt I ever will be again.

Visit them if you like abuse and indigestion. You’re bound to get a table as it doesn’t look as busy as it used to, hardly surprising though.

Last ate out at Lombok about 18 months ago and had a really good meal, but went there last Friday night for my Birthday meal and was really disappointed. The starters were just o.k - too much batter on tempura and Vietnamese chicken and coriander cakes were pretty dull. For main course we had the chicken with asparagus and the Tamarind Duck. The chicken was dry and tough and there was only one asparagus spear with it. The duck looked good, but again under the sauce was quite dry and stringy. The rice was dry and felt like it had been sat on the side for at least an hour before being brought to the table. Had a noodle dish with Bok Choi which was o.k - just not very tasty. We may have chosen badly, but would not go back and would not recommend. What a shame.

Went here on Saturday night with friends and i enjoyed it alot! Very friendly service and the food was fantastic. Very cozy little place and i would highly recomend this place.

My wife and I have been visiting this cosy and welcoming south east asian eatery for about 7 years and have NEVER had any negative experiences. The food is so fresh and flavoursome, well presented and excellent value. I cannot recommend it enough. Staff are always helpful and accomodating and the drinks too are excellent value and varied. Go!

The food was good - genuine Thai - and the service effcient and friendly. The prices were very reasonable compared to other Thai places. Th atmosphere leaves a little to be a desired.
