R.E.D hosted my 30th birthday along with 8 other of my close friends ... we all got to meet the new flamboyant Italian Chef who was very charismatic - his colourful personality was soon to be illustrated in the food that ended up on our plates!! Marvellous!! The helpful, attractive and friendly staff made our night a very special one indeed! The main course; I had a matured free range rib eye steak cooked to perfection and aesthetically pleasing to the EYE (no pun intended) – with rosemary roasted potatoes as a side dish (magnificent)!! The wine list was extensive and well-priced for a restaurant to the magnitude of R.E.D. The place was buzzing on the Saturday night with live music on show - adding to the already well fashioned modern appeal of the interior. Service was second to none and the food came promptly and professionally. Most of us will be going back soon - in fact tomorrow – we will have the pleasure once again in dining at RED for Valentines night.. this place is as hot as the reviews make it out to be. With valentines around the corner - I think you'd be lucky to get a reservation for this place so late on.. but worth a try! Many thanks R.E.D and will see you VERY shortly. CANT WAIT FOR THE LIVE ENTERTAINMENT EITHER and what seems to be an interesting a la carte menu! Chow

Six of us booked a meal here recently having read so many glowing reviews. It was almost empty on a Saturday night which was a bad sign. Well, it was very disappointing, nothing was special and several things were wrong about the meal. For example the potatoes dauphinoise which 4 of us had were very undercooked. We complained but no replacements came. The fish special, red mullet, comprised 3 sardine sized mullet (they should not be fished out at this size) incorrectly 'cleaned', in fact not cleaned at all just chopped diagonally to remove the head and belly! (They would, admittedly, have been more like pilchard size than sardine before they were mutilated). A plate of cheeses was mean and dismal and with cream crackers (really!) to go with it. Despite the on-site deli which I am sure sold decent crackeers for cheese. One of us ordered a pudding which was described as having creme anglaise (i.e. custard) and when asked whether it was made on the premises were told it was bought in 'from the supplier'. No further info was available. When it came there were just a few drips of something on the pudding. We were clearly not happy throughout the meal and the owner was sitting at the bar drinking all evening but did not come over so we called him over and quizzed him. We were told the regular chef was in Paris at a conference. The owner had nothing to say in his defence about everything we complained about, he just did not seem to care at all. We would never go back there.
