Nineteen

We've been going there since shortly after it opened and love the place. The food is always good and often great. They have a new chef and more is promised. The service can be a bit eclectic, but it's prt of the nature of the place. It's not plastic, it's not yet another Gastro-Pub. Yes if they want to be a restaurant with bar rather than bar-restaurant they could do with having an extra waiter on duty. ultimately it's the best food for 2 miles in any direction, which can't be bad.

Just to put this in perspective yesterday I was taken to lunch in the west end where a meal for 4 was over £400 and this evening an excellent dinner for 2 was £70. Until I win the lottery I'm dining at Nineteen.

Given the short life of many restaurants I think they deserve to flourish.

We have eaten here on a number of occasions since it opened and have always been left slightly disappointed; initially we excused it due to its recent opening, and with the discount offered it was of good value. More recently it is difficult to find further excuses for it. It is not one main issue that detracts from the place, but more its sloppiness, slow (slightly arrogant) service, mix ups with food and wine, small mistakes with the food. At times each of the components that make a good restaurant have been there, but never all at once. It is a lovely place to go for a drink and the service has been at times charming, I just wish they would deliver a more polished, professional service when dining.

I expect we will give it one more chance, I just hope they put all the pieces together!!

We've been here a few times but are always disappointed with the service. Our lunch took a long time to come and the waiter seemed to forget we existed. We had to chase him to order drinks and after sitting with our empty and dirty plates for more than 20 minutes, we had to make a huge effort to catch his eye so we could request the the bill. Had the service been better (or normal for a restaurant trying to make it's name), our waiter would have cleared our plates and at least offered us the dessert menu or coffees. As it was we abandoned ideas of staying and spending more money there and decided to cut our losses and leave. It is such a shame that the service lets the restaurant down as the food can be excellant.

We live locally and are delighted to have this relatively new addition to Streatham. The food and cocktails are great and the staff lovely although I'll agree that they could be a bit quicker. We'll definitely be here regularly. The kitchen is open til about half ten/eleven and it closes at 3am!!

We've been here many times and have had some great meals. Unfortunately it is not consistent. The service is very hit and miss and it can take a while for food/drinks/condiments to be brought. If these teething problems can be solved, it will be an excellant restaurant.

We ate here on Saturday night with two friends. My starter of duck with celeriac remoulade and beetroot was very good and my main course of confit of duck with white pudding and cauliflower puree was excellant. Our waitress was great and the rioja we chose was very good aswell. All in all an excellant meal and I will return.
