Have eaten here a few times - lovely dining room even if the seats aren't the most comfortable. Food was really great - especially the mee soto and laksa, portions are generous. Nice wine list for such a small place and service was efficient and friendly. The restaurant can be a little empty but I would definitely go back. (I think they also have a discount for students)

One of the most authentic Singapore restaurants in London. We had beef rendang, chicken satay, spare ribs and char kway teow (fried wide rice noodles). All were extremely good even if I compare with what is found in Singapore- I have had much worse there.

Beef rendang was like my mum makes it, all the spices were correct and the beef tender enough to show that it had been cooked for hours the way it should have been. My only slight criticism was that it wasn't spicy enough, but we are told that this can be arranged!

Spare ribs were totally authentic. The sweet and sour sauce is hard to get right because it's often too sweet or too gloopy. It was just right here. Chicken satay would have been improved by using chicken thigh meat instead of chicken breast, but I really couldn't fault the peanut sauce or the spieces. Char kway teow had the correct "wok hei" or "fragrance of frying" which is really hard to get right, even in Singapore. The noodles were perfectly tender, not falling apart and not too chewy.

We also had the sago gula melaka dessert, which is special because it is served here with shredded gula melaka (palm sugar) on top. This provides a subtle crunch that complements the smooth sago and coconut.

The service was lovely. We had plenty of tea and water refills, and the lovely waiter offered us extra sauce for our dessert when we ran out halfway.

This restaurant is not well patronised enough in my opinion. It was half empty on a Friday night, perhaps because of its unusual location between Holborn and Russell Square. I will be returning many times, and telling all my friends about it.

Food is good, its a pity about the service, there is one particular waitress who hasn't a clue.
