Val-Taro Ristorante

This place is just tucked away in a quiet street off Leicester Square, if such a thing can exist. It's a ;little old fashioned in some ways, but doesn't suffer because of it. You'd be forgiven for thinking that, given the reasonable prices and location that if it's not packed to the rafters that there's something wrong with the place. But there's really no catch. Very good Italian food, including a good list of ever changing specials gets served up in the restaurant and downstairs in the bar. The latter is a great find - a dark hidey hole rignt near the thick of things that's not packed out with braying hoorays and tourists.
The food's good solid stuff - portions are on the big side, particularly pastas. I've been going to this hidden gem for ages and never had a bad meal. The pizzas aren't the strong suit, but with such a wide selection you should find something else that does the job.
