exceptional goats cheese tart for starter, and then lancashire hot pot for main (by far the best i have ever tasted by a mile). a very well chosen selection of (generally french) wine, and excellent service. this is a real family run pub with an eye for quality. highly recommended

Ate there yesterday. Squid and peppers bulked out with rock hard potatoes and lasagne primavera dry as a bone. Overpriced wine and food. Stick to the bar snack menu if you go there. Service was good apart from the bill carrying an extra £12.50 item (refunded).

An enjoyable meal a The Charles Lamb was soured yesterday by the rude service of one of the members of staff. The food was very tasty and the beer good but nothing could make up for the poor attitude and rude comments by the lady working there. When we commented in a friendly manner to the lady that it was a bit strange eating a roast meal out of a large bowl she replied "tough, get used to it" then walked off. Unfortunately I nor any of the people in my party will be getting used to it or returning there to eat.

We visited this pub for lunch and left extremely disappointed - in fact we all headed straight to Angel to pick up a sandwich to fill the hole.

There were a number of us in our party and we all felt the food was poor. The chicken sandwich had the smallest amount of chicken in it and the aioli sauce was almost non-existent, also the soup was extremely oily. When asked by the staff if the food was fine we explained the problem and their only response was to say no one had complained before. This might be true but instead of complaining maybe people just don’t bother coming back, which is exactly what we will be doing.
