La Tarantella
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
My husband and I found this little gem of a restaurant while looking for a low key place to celebrate my birthday. We'd intended to visit Vino Rosso in a nearby Chiswick street but were disappointed with small menu with very few veggie options. However La Tarantella didn't disappoint with many options to choose from.
Every course was delicious and the taste lingered on the tongue until the next dish arrived. My first impression was that it was cute and cosy from the outside, and quite compact on the inside. This is a small restaurant but they cleverly designed the seating so that it's intimate but not crowded.
They brought complimentary olives, then moist olive oil infused bread. We shared bruschetta as a starter and they were attentive enough to put it on two plates rather than making us share off one plate. The bruschetta was zingy, slighty spiced, and very fresh. We then had tagatelli con fungi y porcini and tubetti con fagioli pastas along with a bottle of Champagne. To finish off we had delectable home-made Tiramisu which was given in generous portions.
You feel this place is based on truly Italian ethics as the pace allowed enough time between meals to digest and prepare yourself for the next treat. This is often a rarity in London where most people do not enjoy a leisurely meal. The staff were friendly, even the chefs made an effort to greet the regulars and the place was packed even on a Wednesday night. Every single course left me wanting more, and despite over indulging, I found myself still curious of the meals being served on other tables. A testament to a truly wonderful restaurant which I will visit again and again!
