First time in my life I’ve felt the need to warn others of a completely disgusting, over priced, disaster of a dinner from start to finish at this restaurant. Our family only get together from around the globe once in 10 years so you can imagine how much we were all looking forward to it.

We rang the restaurant twice to make sure of the arrangements and informed them twice that we would be slightly late as two of our family were delayed flying in from America. Imagine the shock at being greeted by the most rude, ignorant, arrogant waiter screeching and shouting angrily at the top of his voice, in my daughter’s faces, that he was just going to give our table away as we were 15 minutes late! The poor young waitress behind him was mortified with embarrassment.

We were seating in a dimly lit side section and ignored as much as possible for the whole meal by the staff. We had to ask for menus and then they reluctantly found 3 between 6 of us.

Every fish dish we ordered was finished (at 8pm on a Saturday night?) and as the lady taking the orders was unable to hear us, and appeared very irritable, we had to make do with hastily chosen replacements.

The food finally arrived in stages, all with the waiter’s thumb stuck in the dishes. The veal was burnt black underneath (what sort of a chef would have allowed it out of their kitchen?), the steaks cold, no garnish, no vegetables even though the menu said they were included, no offer of bread rolls, we were all so embarrassed and subdued we ate in silence except for twice having to ask for vegetables as though we were in a macabre production of Oliver. A bowl of cold broccoli was eventually brought, followed 10 minutes later, after another request, by a decent bowl of new potatoes, shame as we had all finished our food and they were clearing the table. Can’t comment on the deserts or coffee as we couldn’t wait to get out as quickly as possible. The only entertainment was watching diners at other tables complain and send their food back as it was cold.

The cost ? £35 per head which included 1 cheap quality bottle of red wine between us all.

I just wish I’d read these reviews before booking. I don’t know which was worse, the food or the staff (except the young blonde waitress) a mistake I certainly won’t be making again!

Regatta on the green - keep a wide berth!!

Took my mum there for a birthday treat for lunch. Only one other party of four in there at 1pmish. Service was polite enough, but she was not very clear when I asked what we could choose from on the menu because we had a Groupon voucher.

Before the starter came out we were given a complimentary shot glass of chicken broth - DISGUSTING. It was bizarre and as though they were trying to keep up with the Jones's in the restaurant world. It was luke warm and had fat particles floating on top.

Can't remember what starters we had but for a main I had a risotto dish. Way way too much was served up which sounds silly to moan about but risotto shouldn't be served in such large quantities and it wasn't good enough to bag up and take home.

The stinger came at the end of the meal when I handed over the Groupon voucher for payment. The voucher was for up to a value of £70 or so, but what we were told we could choose from on the menu you could only physically spend about £40. I didn't realise at the time but they had calculated the gratuity based on the Groupon voucher rather than what we had actually had. I think I was in such a rush to get out of the atmospheric lacking, dated, poor cuisine serving 'restaurant' that I paid the extra amount for the food.

Places like this I normally complain and would expect a chunk off the bill but I didn't want to spoil the occasion further.

Don't waste your money on Regatta on the Green, Winchmore Hill

Dreadful place, overseen by an awful owner, who kissed one in our party- she knows her - and smiled (weakly) at the rest of us, not saying a word so hardly a proper greeting. Didn't offer to take our coats and when we asked where we could leave them, they were taken from us and thrown on a heap of other diners coats on the floor in reception. This was my first and last visit to this grubby restaurant, which is apparently italian, who serve a childrens menu of spaghettii with meatballs- but forget to mention the spicy bit for the meatballs. They also forgot one of our party, despite being asked 4 times where her main course was. so It arrived 30 minutes after everyone else. Deserts were a farce. The polish girl who recited the menu to us, forgot to say "tart" after "pear and mulled wine" so we got something we werent expecting and on top of that it was revolting. Yet again one of our party was forgotten, so his ice cream came 15 minutes after everyone elses, but at least he was asked what he wanted unlike a futher 2 in our party, and there were only 11 of us including two children. The portions are mean, roast beef comes with HALF a yorkshire pudding- cut in HALF- no choice of vegetables, they're just presented on your plate no mention of what they are, half of our party said their food was cold, but you couldn't tell the staff, as they never came near us, except for to slam the plates down in front of you.

Maybe by Polish standard this is a very good restaurant, but for us yesterday this was an throughly unplesant experience. Some of the food was ok, nothing exciting , tolerable, but I expect more when I go out than to be able to tolerate the food. There is little to no atmosphere in this place, despite the restaurant being full, and the music is far to loud, we asked for it to be turned down which they did eventualy, as we where leaving. This place has no competition in this area, but it is no competition even for Mc Donalds.

Regatta is a wonderful place to eat. The staff are friendly and welcoming and you feel like they want you to enjoy your stay with them.

The food is just perfect and if there is something you would rather have that is not on the menu providing they have it in their kitchen they will cook it for you not fuss at all.

I look forward to returning there soon and enjoying yet another lovely meal.

A very nice local Italian. They were welcoming.

Service was friendly and efficient. Both main courses(sea bass and tuna) were first class. One starter(potted shrimps) was a little disappointing. Good specials board added to the menu. No room for dessert but a good range judging by staring at other tables.

Portions were of a good size and unlike another reviewer our wine stayed at our table.

The only naff note was the man sitting in the restaurant playing "Spanish Eyes" and other great hits on his electronic keyboard a touch too loud.

This is one of the best kept secrets in London , although judging by last Saturday night which was packed, it is being discovered again by an army of foodies.

Simply a fine restuarant trading at sensible value for money prices in a very pretty area of North London with loads of free parking, and no vandles or drunks when you leave to hassle you.

My whole turbot was outstanding and my partners choice also was carefully cooked and she was very impressed, a feat in its self !!.Lovely friendly atmosphere, good wine list, I shall return and have adopted this as my favourite place to eat.

This restuarant has changed dramatically over the past few years it is without doubt one of the best Italian restuarants in London, offering great value two courses from the whole menu for 19.95 with a fabulous blackboard of fish courses.

I cannot recommend this highly enough it is one of THE great places to eat out at sensible money.

Just try it out , and you can park right outside !!
