I am at a loss as to why this restaurant has bad reviews, I cannot recommend it highly enough. The staff are so kind and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The food is outstanding (both at the restaurant and takeaway) fresh, imaginative and perfectly cooked every time. The flavours are well chosen and each dish I have tried is very individual and delicious.

If you live in the area, or even if you don't you must try Thai Room, especially on a Tuesday set menu is an absolute bargain.

The reservation was for ten people. The name speaks for itself. The restaurant is tiny. For a group of ten, this was pretty hard as the atmosphere was stagnant, and cramped. We were given one bowl of prawn crackers to the table of Ten. We ordered set menus, and separate meals, rather than starters first. The meal took an hour and a half to get to us. As we had children with us as well this was very unacceptable!!! The service itself was not a problem. The staff were friendly, but we were given no indication of when our meals would be ready and why they were taking so long. Once we had our meals, the portions were very small, and we were almost forced to hurry with our plates being cleared whilst we were eating.

All in all, as a hungry group of ten, we did no enjoy the service or the helpings. However, the food was of good standards. but not worth the amount we paid.

What a great place! I moved to the area a few months back and was lamenting the lack of Thai restaurants... until I stumbled across this place. Hidden in the back of Bow Wharf, a modern complex of offices and food/drink places off Grove Rd, this single-room long retaurant is a truly fantastic neighbourhood Thai.

My favourite is the Pad Kra Prow - perfect flavours and they are not afraid to make it extra spicy when I ask! The staff are very friendly and attentive, service is excellent, and atmosphere mellow.

I am not sure why there are negative reviews on here - I do agree that their massaman is not at all a classic massaman, however that dish is the only lownote of this place (in my rather regular experience!)

I honestly think some of the bad reviews below are from competition in the area.

My wife and I have lived in Bow for 5 years and I can honestly say the Thai Room serves some of the best food in London at competitive prices. The staff are extremely pleasant and serve food with that famous Thai hospitality.

I have been to Thailand 4 times and I love their food. The Thai room rivals any cuisine you can find there and this place is seriously a little gem in the East End.

Please don't listen to some of the bad reviews below as they are obviously written by jealous competitors in the area. This place deserves 9's and 10's without question. Who else would write “I can recommend Rama Thai in Stepney Green.” And give you the post code? That just doesn’t happen on London Eating reviews!

The atmosphere is intimate, welcoming and suits all occasions. Bow isn’t the prettiest place in London, granted, but f you live in the area, this place is highly recommended.

Unfortunately we are moving from the area next week and we will certainly miss the Thai Room.

If you're looking at the other reviews and wondering if this place is worth a visit then let me advise you not to bother.

The service, setting and prices are comparable to other Thai restaurants in London, and I have no complaints regarding these. Unfortunately, the food was of a poor standard. It is fairly bland and portions are small. I don't know how others can rate this place as having some of the best food this side of Bangkok!! They obviously have few tastebuds! You'd be better off travelling further East to the Thai in Leyonstone.
