Monsoon Thai Restaurant

The modern shop design, well furnished interior and un-desirable location (Hindhead traffic lights on the A3 and limited parking) are signs this restaurant is achieving the impossible in an un-favourable market. You could assume then that the food must be great...

I wanted this restaurant to be great, I've always liked its modern external style and hoped the food would match. My first worry was that the food was rather quick (accounting for the fact there were a total of 4 people dining). The curries were far too runny and all of the food was very oily. Being a vegetarian, I also felt that there was far too little choice for me to return for a 'really good meal out' and within the Vegetarian Set Meal is a Broccoli in Oyster Sauce dish, a little confused perhaps?

Although the food wasn't great and the bill fairly high for the quality, the staff were extremely courteous and not overly so. Atmosphere was lacking, but that could be down to our Monday night visit - only one other couple were dining, which made conversation with my partner difficult to keep to ourselves!

Many reviews have reported that the food can be of mixed standards; I tend not to favour restaurants who cannot keep a consistency of quality so I don't think I will return.

We've been customers of monsoon for about 2 years when we moved to the area. We regularly use the restaurant, maybe once and month and can honestly say we have always been very happy with our meal. The food is excellent. I normally have the same dish - Penang King Prawn Curry - made extra spicy on request and the staff always remember how I prefer it.

We have tried various other thai restaurants in the area but none have compared to monsoon in terms of quality of food. At monsoon, when you order king prawns, you get very large king prawns unlike many other restaurants.

Service has always been good and the owner is a great host who regularly comes and has a chat with us when we have finished our meal.

We look forward to our next visit to monsoon!

I love this restaurant, been eating here regularly for nearly two years now and have not been able to fault the food or service once!

I have tried other Thai restaurants in the area and the food never meets up to standards at Monsoon!

i totally disagree with the ratings for this restaurant. We live just down the road for the restaurant in Hindhead and we have been there on several occasions. The service is ok, but the food is hit and miss. There is no atmosphere at all, in fact there is rarely anyone in there. I love Thai food and wish that they would up there game a bit so that we can dine there more often.
