Bombay Spice

Excellent restaurant on Green Lanes (not none for good restuarants). The food is fantastic especially as it appears to be freshly prepared and cooked on the spot. Even the late Mayor of London Red Ken recommends it. The atmosphere is peaceful although a little bit sombre and the service is tentative. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

We really wanted the visit to Bombay Spice to be great and it was until my dish arrived. There was too much salt in it which is something that a relative commented on last year.
The decor, staff and the rest of the meal were fine but it puts this restaurant down the list somewhat after eating an over-seasoned main course.

I have been going to Bombay Spice for a couple of years now. When ever I have family or friends over, I always take them there. The food is always fantastic and the staff are more than friendly. I recommend the Murgh Nilgiri or Murgh Makan Palak depending if you like spicy or creamy. If you haven't been and want to spice up your life, GO.

I have been going to the bombay spice fopr several years now albiet only about every 6 months as I live a long way away, the lamb chops are superb and is highly recommended, the other dishes are equally good and a varied menu, great quality restuarant.

I have to say that I have been eating at Bombay Spice for many years and have always found the food to be of a very high standard. As to the comments of arriving at 8:15 and taking half an hour for your order to be taken that would be a rare situation but if your order was taken at 8:45 then of course it takes time to prepare the food. Its not your common slop house where they make everything in giant vats and churn it out after it having sat there all evening. Fresh food will always take time and it's not a chinese restaurant where they serve each dish as and when it's ready. Please next time you go there ask to see the kitchen as I often do in my eateries. They will be more than happy and if the service was poor for you I am happy to say in 5 years I haven't had a problem. As for the chicken tikka masala review, again they don't serve it so can rival restaurants just play nice and leave the reviews to the genuine punters!!!!!!! And quite frankly if its good enough for politicians and B list celebs its good enough for me

I have been using Bombay Spice for 3 or 4 years and as I live close to Wembley Stadium it is NOT local therefore when I tell you that it is exceptional and you need to go if you don:t want the run of the mill high street curry house, you should listen. It is a little more expensive than the norm but it is worth it and they always give you extra dishes to compliment your meal at no extra charge. I have just read a review of this restaurant by 'Kokos' who said that he was a chef and he completely slagged it off, unfortunately he said that the Chicken Tikka Masala was awful, well they don't do this dish. Go and enjoy you won't be disappointed.

Was it as good as ever? I was there two weeks ago and I'm pretty sure there's been a change of hands.
Food wasn't that good, they lost our booking and the ambiance wasn't as nice as before.

Not saure if Kokos (review below) went to the same place as the rest of us. I've been going for years and am always very happy with the food and experience.
I don't go out for Indian food very often as it very rarely compares to decent home cooked traditional Indian food but this place is the exception.
Gping again tonight, am sure it will be as good as ever.

I'm sorry to say that these reviews which have been written below must of been by people without taste buds or by the owners. Where do I start? I always order 3 main courses for 2 people to have a variety of food. I am a qualified chef and I have a great sense of smell, vision and taste, nothing escapes me.
We ordered a Murgh Nilgiri (chicken with green chillies). This was supposed to be spicy and was not, the chicken pieces were swimming in a watery green sauce, no taste whatsoever - dustbin!
We ordered a Mix Grill. This had a chicken piece which was ordinary, a minced meat on a skewer, tasteless, and a King Prawn which didn't smell fresh, again straight to the bin.
We ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala swimming in a watery red sauce again which was tasteless.
We ordered a mushroom rice, rice was overcooked and selled from too much water and believe it or not, tasteless and mushy.
The only thing eadible was thew Naan bread.
Not recommend

We live locally and on the rare occasion we get a babysitter and manage to go out, we often come here.
The food is definitely several notches above your regular Indian. Also on the v. rare occasion we order a take-out, it is always from Bombay Spice.
I am an obsessive foodie (as my family will tell you!) and cook Indian meals at home, and have travelled extensively across India, so I don't tend to visit Indian restaurants in the UK unless I know I am getting something close to the real thing. I can recommend the food here without a doubt.
I think the service can be a litle slow sometimes, but I think they have improved since the reviews dating back to 2005.
Our last visit a couple of weeks ago was very efficient and very friendly.
The decor is not your run- of-mill flock wall-paper and banquet seats as often seen in Indian restaurants. It veers on the modern side so feels nicer for a special occasion.
