La Porchetta

I am racking my brains trying to think of a worse Itlaian restaurant and I can't think of one! And believe me, I have eaten a lot of Italian food!

Anglicised in the worst possible way - the pizzas are soggy and piled with cheese and grease (so what if they're cooked in a brick oven?? They're still awful!) and certain bites taste funny, suggesting that the chefs don't wash their hands much...

Tacky surroundings; rude and completely unattentive staff who seem to forget you're even there; ridiculously long waiting times for each course to be ordered, bought and cleared away; awful wine (I can barely bring myself to call it wine!).

Altogether an appalling eating experience, and not in the least bit 'Italian'.

AWFUL! I visited La Porchetta Muswell Hill yesterday with friends and was really disappointed. The service was terrible - be warned - service charge is automatically added to your bill. The pizzas were also a real disappointment.

I visited La Porchetta for a friends birthday and found the service was terrible...i will never visit it again purely because after waiting 15mins for our 1st round of drinks and then a further hour for our food...for the waiter to say it was our fault was disgusting. Also the fact that i had to ask for my food to be heated up as it wasnt hot wasnt very impressing. La Porchettas has gone so far down hill in the last year its amazing they need to sort out their staff bcause theyve definetley lost one local diner here!!

I have been going to La Porchetta in Muswell Hill for years now and normally it is great. However I feel the need to write as the last couple of times I have found the staff less than helpful. I have always gone here instead of the pizza chains in Muswell Hill but from now on will not be eating pizza at all.

OK - it's Italian right.....pasta n pizza. Locals love it, always packed, be prepared to queue at the weekend or on special occassions - Mothers day etc.

Fair value for money, service very friendly, however if the staff get to know it's your birthday they all come round bashing pots with spoons and shouting out "happy birthday to you".....you may find this embarrassing at best and annoying at worst.

If you must try it out, go for the Penne Arabatia or Seafood Salad (main course).
