Excellent gastro pub. I visited in a group of 6 for a Monday night out. The set menu for 3 courses at £11.50 is gastronnomic bargin.

Starters of beetroot soup or crayfish salad were delightful as was the fresh bread. Mains of risotto, calves liver on mash with onion rings or grilled chicken breast were all very good. Extremely tasty chicken, great liver and a satisfying risotto. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the dessert of sponge pudding and creme anglais was superb. The spiced apple eaton mess was not quite right, but all in all the best meal out I have had in a while.

Check it out - you won't be disappointed

Went to the Prince Albert last night with some friends for a birthday meal. It's a very nice pub and the dining area upstairs is very inviting. Definitely a good place to go for a few drinks but food-wise i would really advise people not to bother. The food is not terrible but just stupidly over-priced for what it is. Even with the current offer of 50% off the main courses you still coming away feeling hard done by!

Very unsatisfying. Good for ale but you'll find much better places too eat in Camden!

Stumbled upon this pub in the back streets of Camden. The building itself on the outside is beautiful with emerald green, Victorian tiling beneath a proud and striking 'Charringtons' sign, again tiled. Nestling under the large tree to the front of the building is a well shielded, cosy garden area with cream-coloured parasols shielding diners from the summer sun (not that we've had too much this year).

The interior is split over two levels with a friendly, informal bar area on the ground floor, and a far grander dining room/restaurant on the first floor. Both areas contain an eclectic mix of antique, bar and church furniture.

The food offering, in my opinion was impressive. They run an A la Carte menu and various set menus (two courses for £9). I ate from the A la Carte menu sampling the excellent Bresaola drizzled with a quality olive oil, followed by French trimmed lamb cutlets that were perfectly pink and accompanied by a hearty selection of fresh vegetables. My partner ate from the set menu and chose a well-constructed goat's cheese salad, followed by an unpretentious chicken dish. Really excellent value for money. I declined the dessert offering, but my partner plumped for the Chococalte mi-cuit that proved to be a winning choice.

Staff were both charming and knoweldgeable and really topped off what was a superb experience. Highly recommend this very welcome addition to the Camden scene.

I was amazed by the rave reviews here, lovely pub and building but the food and especially the service is extremely disappointing. How can people describe £20.50 for a chewy steak and chips good value? For less you can eat at one of London's top restaurants, you can spend a couple of quid more and eat at The Landau or The Wolsey. The steak was awful, completely made up of grizzle, and very poorly sealed, giving it a grey colour as if it had been steamed instead. Chips were nice but at these prices it is just unreasonable. I had a starter of Chicken livers which were overcooked, and in a sauce that tasted like a Bachelours Pasta and sauce mix. It is nothing more than pub grub which thy think can be charged extra for due to the very nice dining room surroundings. But you may aswell go to Whetherspoons and pay a lot less for something on a par quality wise. Upon expressing my dissapointment to the manger we were told "better luck next time" . Naturally there will not be an next time, I live a few minutes walk away and if this had been good I would have gone there all the time, but it's not worth the poor attitude from staff when there are so many better places nearby.

Was here last week to take them up on one of their offers that they email out (I think there's still a link on their website to sign up - well worth it btw). Must say that the whole group had a really cracking time. Food was excellent and really good value for money especially as we had 50% off vouchers for mains.

They seem to be bending over backwards to make the credit crunch feel less painful with a host of different offers. It was working. The place was packed. Despite this the service was friendly and attentive.

Was charmed by this place and will definitely be going back soon. Maybe for the Sunday roast?
