Oversalted and overpriced. The starter salad was soaked in balsamic vinegar and completely lost its subtle taste. The main was so salty I had enough after two or three bites. It was pure salt - vegetables, potatoes, meat, everything was oversalted. Basically, paid lots for something I could not eat because it wasn't very edible. Would much rather eat in central london for this price.

Doing the E17 Art Trail on Sunday, we stopped for lunch at the wondreful La Ruga. A friend happened to be in the area & joined us. What a wonderful time we had. Fantastic food, wine & service of course. The sun was shining, the atmosphere was so lovely & relaxing.

Perfect.

We had the hard task of booking a good resteraunt for our mum who is heavily in the know when it comes to good dining .we booked a table for 12 people at Trattoria la ruga on a saturday evening .All around this has to be the best italian resteraunt we have been to .unlike many places La ruga's service was amazing .We were taken through the menu perfectly by the very kind waiter. The food was 100 % as amazing as it sounded when explained to us before ordering. The waitresses helped with the children and taught one of the young ones how to peel prawns .I would recomend this place to anyone who appreciates quality traditional dining .Thanks to Trattoria la ruga for a great experience

After the third time visiting this restaurant, i really felt it was time to leave a review. This is what we should hope for when wishing for a quality local restaurant. All elements score a positive apart from the price, which could easily get away from you. Nevertheless, for rustic and full flavoured Italian food it really hits the spot.

The menu changes daily and there's plenty of choice, unless you're a vegetarian, where you would have struggled last night. The staff are brilliant - friendly, chatty, knowledgable about the food - if you wanted a vege option I'm sure they would have sorted it out. Highlights last night were the mains - stuffed octopus stew with an amazing deep and flavourful red win sauce; rabbit in a white wine sauce, again in a stew, but so tasty you wanted to keep coming back.

I'll keep coming back.

This place is just stunning. We've been going here for over two years and never had a bad experience. It's such a friendly place, Ricado and Salvo will treat you as friends and entertain you through the night whilst Nicky will prepare you some of the most stunning homemade food you have ever had. I have never had to wait long for a meal, I can only imagine the people that have complained are used to wanting food 20 seconds after ordering and not enjoying the company of your fellow diners and the atmosphere of this lovely restaurant.

It's a local for us, but i'd recommend jumping on the Victoria line for an evening here, it's only a short walk from Walthamstow Central.

It's not cheap, but the service and quality of food is worth every penny. Recently they have introduced pasta dishes Mon-Thurs which are very reasonably priced.
