We dined at Eriki- India Per Se last night and regretted it bitterly. Despite the pretentious decor and atitude of the staff, they did not meet the most basic standards. Most of the meal we ordered was simply inedible. The rice was ancient and reheated, the Tandoori lamb chops were only the finest gristle and fat and the lamb biryani was stale and had a nasty musty taste. The only saving grace was the wine and the popadoms - which surprisingly were fine. On arrival we were greeted by a charming girl who informed us that her father owned the building, the waiters and waitresses had the airs and graces of a Downton duchess, but unfortunately, no knowledge or real understanding of why they were there. When we pointed out that most of our meal was inedible and the rest mediocre, we were offered a free dessert. By this time, the last thing we wanted was any more of their food! Finally they grudging agreed to refund half of the meal, but then were sulky and sullen thereafter. It is a pretentious and amateurish sham of a restaurant, seemingly there to provide occupational therapy for its' staff rather than its' customers with a decent meal. it is an over-priced white elephant of a restaurant. Do not go there. It represents rotten value for money, nasty food and a terrible attitude on behalf of the staff. I will go hungry rather than eat there again.
