Went here for dinner on a fairly quiet sunday night. The decor's basic, but the food's good quality and well-priced. Of the starters, we really liked the roll-your-own beef summer rolls, crispy battered squid and spare ribs. The sweet potato chips and chicken satay were just ok. The bun cha(pork meatballs with noodles and salad) was really good, as was the bun bo (beef, prawns & noodles), the chicken coconut curry was pretty average, and served without rice. Service was efficient and helpful without being overbearing. I'd go again, but would be tempted to stick with lots of little dishes to share.

Menu is very low price, which is good for students.I was a bit disappointed with the food, considering it was run by vietnamese people. The portions were a bit small and the taste wasn't quite right. My friend ordered a scallop dish which only had 3 scallops in it.Basically,it's low price but I feel there are better vietnamese's around

Rubbish, give this a miss as there are plenty of others a stone throw away that offer good Viet food. I don't get why the food here is so bland and boring since the rest round this area are all pretty good. They obviously don't care.

being of vietnamese origin myself and having travelled extensively in vietnam i know for a fact the sage is NEVER served with pho - perhaps this is an australian vietnamese phenemomena!!!
i have eaten in hanoi cafe and can definitely say that the broth tastes authentic and not out of a jar mixed with water. vietnamese food is naturally delicate that is why it doesn't need massive added extras!!!

Sorry, but this restaurant is the worst Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to. I am an Aussie of Vietnamese origins, and I have eaten in a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in many parts of the world, and of course, also at home because of mum's cooking. I ordered pho and let me tell you that I have never EVER tasted such bland pho - it shouldn't even be called pho!! I had to ask for bean shoots and sage (it should be a crime to not eat pho with bean shoots and sage) otherwise they didn't offer me those. My husband ordered bun bo hue, which tasted exactly the same as my pho - bland. At first I thought they had given him the wrong dish because it looked exactly like mine!
We shouldn't have walked into the restaurant at all, because it was not very busy when we went on a Friday night.
Total waste of money.
