Willie Gunn

We went for a birthday dinner to Willie Gunn last night. The menu was really exciting and the food was delicious. It has a great varied menu that suits all tastes. The atmosphere was fantastic and so was the service. We had a wonderful time. Thank you everyone at Willie Gunn. We all plan to come back soon!

Un-original menu executed in an un-special way. Re-decoration in the back room post 2007 flooding is bland and a little cheap. Service continued the nearly-mediocre theme. Nice place to stop for a glass of wine if there are tables in the bar, otherwise, I'm not rushing back, no matter how convenient it is.

I've eaten here on/off for 10 years and I have never been disappointed with the food. It has always been delicious and cooked well. It's true that sometimes the staff could and should be more attentive and this is usually down to luck, it has never been so bad that I'd not go back. Go there and judge for yourself - I don't even live that locally anymore but still make the trek there on occasion just for WG!!

My boyfriend and I tried this place last night for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. For a gastro pub cum restaurant, the menu was very well balanced with plenty of tempting choices even for the fussiest of diners.

The food - excellent, all cooked to near perfection. Beginers luck? Who knows but it's definitely worth a visit. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff were somewhat laid back but friendly enough. Perfect for a chilled Sunday dinner..

Very disappointing. Went there for dinner last Saturday night and we sent back two out of our five lamb main courses as were either over cooked or too fatty. The replacements, not lamb as that had run out, were undercooked and also had to be returned.

After that we pretty much gave up! Staff we pleasant enough but not particularly attentive. We didn't pay for the two returned main courses, but even then final bill was incorrect and had to be redone! Shame as used to eat there reasonably often. Not any more!

I went here for dinner two weeks ago and was extremely disappointed. I haven't seen so much stodge for ages! This restaurant clearly focuses on quantity rather than quality, but given the prices it really isn't worth the money (unless you haven't eaten for a week and your favorite food is potatoes). The restaurant itself is quite nice, and so is the bar area, but I wouldn't go here for food again.

I was taken to this restaurant several years ago by someone in the know and was bowled over immediately. The atmosphere is of a classy, relaxed and deeply comfortable dining room. The bar is small and cosy, but big enough to always have enough room. The food has never been less that utterly delicious and remarkable value for money, and the outstanding service attentive and friendly. I reccomend it without hesitation, its what every good restaurant should be.

We had a thoroughly decent meal in WG. Starters of squid and lentils and a rocket salad, followed by a delicious and more than enough for 2 fish cakes with fries and salad. My partner having what he described as a delicious steak. Service pretty good and overall very happy, will be going back!

I cannot understand how anyone can like the place... My first meal was so awful that both myself and my boyfreind had to leave our mains almost untouched (not that anoyone from the staff asked why...); i then kept hearing of people loving it, so we tried again, with however the same disappointing result! I still remeber ordering bangers and mash: the sausages had obviously been microwaved a number of times and were uneatable and the mash was only comparable to plastic, it was that horrible...even though everything had been covered in gravy and the food was swimming in it, i still could not eat it and had to leave the whole thing! Now, i would like to point out that I NEVER leave food i pay for, but this terrible place gives me no choice! I shall certainly never go there again. BTW, it is also overpriced!!!!!!!

Only been once after a couple of years talking about going. Went on a Tuesday -very quiet but excellent food and service. Ideal for a romantic dinner for two!
