We had a big Christmas dinner for friends here last weekend and it was great. The food was its usual high standard despite the big numbers, but the best thing for me was the service. The staff struck the perfect balance of informality and attentiveness and did all they could to ensure we had a good time - both before and during the evening.

We held our wedding reception at the Prince Arthur at the weekend for 42 people.

The venue and meal exceeded our expectations and we had very positive feedback from our guests. The staff were exceptionally helpful and responsive and everything went to plan.

Would highly recommend!

We recently had a reception at the Prince Arthur and it was a huge success. All our guests were full of praise for the atmosphere, the food and particulary the staff. These all combined to make it a memorable occasion. Will definately go again.

I ate here with a friend for my birthday, and had an amazing evening. There was a special 5 course menu with wine pairing laid on for that evening (called the 'Fine wine and seasonal food evening'). The food was delicious, and the wine pairing portions very generous and well-matched (we rolled out of there in, er, very good spirits!). The staff were very kind in that they they doctored the menu specially for my friend and even laid out a place name for her specially (as the had different cutlery from me)- really thoughtful attention to detail; a very personal touch.

The value for money was fantastic, the staff were all lovely and very friendly, service excellent...all in all a perfect evening, and very memorable!

Now that I have discovered the Prince Arthur (only 5 days ago), I have already been back for the Sunday roast which was also lovely! So as you can probably glean from my review I would highly recommend this pub/ restaurant :-)

Had dinner at the Prince Arthur last night, having tried one of their sister restaurants a week or so back and I have to say I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The staff were delightful, welcoming and attentive. The ambience is informal, relaxed gastropub. The food was delicious - had the ham hock croquettes followed by the venison which was fantastic, and even though I was feeling pleasantly full I had to finish the lot.

Today I have been recommending this place to many friends and I hope they will take the opportunity to discover this gem of a place.

Had the Valentine's Dinner there last night (14.02.2011). Although it wasn't really a Valentine's dinner as we had my sister-in-law and my niece with us visiting from Glasgow.

I must say, it was really very, very good. We were a bit concerned at the start when we saw the menu and initially thought the choices were a bit limited. However, once the food arrived and we started eating it was delicious.

My girlfriend and I had the venison as a main, which is not something I would normally go for, but it was absolutely fantastic. My sister-in-law and niece had the pork cutlets. Starters incluced ham croquettes (really good), cauliflower soup and salmon. Desserts: banana tart tatin (orgasmic!) and rhubard something. All clean plates at the end says it all really.

Service was good - efficient without being intrusive - and friendly. Compliments to the chef for the food which was very good indeed, and to Lauren from ETM for organising and liaising with us beforehand to make sure our booking was managed smoothly.

Even Olly the dog benefitted from the pork and venison bones we took home afterwards - I've never seen a dog's tail wag so much!

Thanks everybody at ETM and the Prince Arthur - we'll surely be seeing you again.

I had a Birthday lunch here on a Sunday in mid-January. I was really well looked after and found the pub laid back and easy to book for an unconfirmed number of guests. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for an uncomplicated venue for a get-together.

My friends and I had an absolutely marvellous new year at the price Arthur.

The food was amazing, as were the staff.

They handed out party hats and the DJ had the whole pub dancing.

Definitely a good spot for a yummy dinner and lovely night out.

Great food in cheerful price! The combination of house cured Scottish salmon with celearic remoulade compliment each other. Fish and chips was divine! Thick cut of fish in crispy but not oily batter, like the one in Heston Blumenthal 'In Search of Perfection'. Apple crumble and custard made for a hearthy dessert. Well done to Matt, who is the new head chef! We will definitely be back. Just wish that The Prince Arthur is my local pub!
