I have been here both lunchtime and evening, the food is excellent as is the atmosphere. The staff is very helpful and polite. Probably one of my favourite restaurants of all time, perfect to go to with friends or even for a date.

After reading all the reviews we decided to finally visit the place, we had a very warm welcome from the staffs and we were seated in a good spot. we ordered some starters and the best one was the avocado al forno - so so delicious, for mains we ordered the zonzo steak and pollo fiorentina which both were fresh and testy i can wait to go there next week. Thank you Zonzo.

My boyfriend and I were staying at the Hilton Metropole last weekend for his birthday and decided to eat at this restaurant on Sunday night. Upon entering we were seated in a good spot and had a very nice waitress serve us. We ordered and started enjoying our night.... I had a garlic and mozzerella bread to start which was fine, but my boyfriend had calamari which was circular (usually a sign of not fresh but frozen) and the batter was falling off and very soggy. He ate it anyway as was hungry and just hoped that was all that would be wrong.... We then had a new waitress who it seems was being trained by the manager (who was more interested in chatting to his chefs than keeping an eye on her or the tables). My boyfriends steak came, in a peppercorn sauce with spinach and saute potatoes. His steak was supposed to be rare but was medium, his spinach tasted fishy (he thought like escagot!), his sauce tasted like peanuts and the saute potatoes were like aunt bessie roasts but not cooked enough so all soft. I had a chicken breast in a creamy sauce, which was so oilly it was seperated from the sauce - yuk! I also had the awful potatoes.
Luckily we left just paying for our starters and drinks, as we couldn't eat anymore food at all, we were completely put off. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We sat waiting for a 'check-back' to complain about our mains for quite a while, with our cutlery down on our plates.
The only thing that looked any good were their pizzas as they had a pizza oven in the restaurant where they make all the pizzas and my starter was on a pizza base which was quite nice.
To be honest we will never be going back and we were thoroughly disappointed as it was for my boyfriend's birthday. It is a shame as there aren't many restaurants near the Hilton, which we would definately stay at again, either going into town to eat or eating in the hotel.

We decided to try out Zonzo on the strength of a friend’s recommendation, and it is undoubtedly a very attractive little place, with a rustic-themed décor and utterly charming service from enthusiastic Italian waiters, but to be honest we were disappointed with the quality of the food overall. We started with the bruschetta, which was average really - slightly bland and not much of it, but perfectly edible.
My main course, however, was very poor. I chose the Bistecca alla Zonzo - steak cooked “in the Zonzo style”, and I’m afraid I wish they’d left out the Zonzo element. It came already carved into small pieces and smothered in a peculiar gravy, which did nothing for the meat, not that much could have saved it anyway; it was tough, chewy and vaguely reminiscent of cardboard, despite having been ordered rare.
My boyfriend had the Branzino alla Zonzo (sea bass given the inimitable Zonzo makeover), and his reaction was “Meh. Tastes like fish.” Completely nondescript, then, but still better than mine, which I ended up having to abandon despite being ravenous. Turning my attention to the vegetables instead, I found that the broccoli was covered in butter, which I loathe, and had specifically requested not to be added to anything when I ordered. They were also squishy and obviously overcooked.
We didn’t bother with dessert and had only one bottle of wine between us, but the bill was still hefty, and I left still hungry! Maybe they were just having an off-night for some reason, but I certainly wouldn’t go back.

Hi
I am really sorry to say that I was too hasty in my review of Zonzo. I went there again yesterday and received a very rude welcoming from a different member of staff. He was so rude in fact we decided to leave without ordering What a shame. Really thought I had found my new local restaurant to die in at least once a week.

Wow, after reading the great reviews I thought I would finally check out my local Italian. Fantastic! You would not believe you were on edgware road. Its cozy, romantic, stylish and clean. The service was perfect with a lovely Authentic Italian waiter. Their 50% off your mains and starters is well worth taking advantage of. Really recommend the Bisteca al Pepe! The meat was to die for. The grilled prawns for starters melted in our mouths. The only thing I will say is the spaghetti vongole seemed to have maybe tinned 'clams'/cockles added to it which was a tad dissapointing for me but because everything else superceeded our expectations it didnt matter.

Thirty-two of us, with individual menu choices, and including some vegetarians, went to Zonzo's for my 50th Birthday on Sat 26/1/08, and had a wonderful time. The food was wholesome and beautifully-presented (I especially enjoyed my risotto with chicken and mushroom) and the management and staff were absolutely fabulous with us, including with my lovable niece and another lively child!
Above all, I was impressed with how the head waiter kept tabs on who was having what, with the attentiveness of the staff, and with the relaxed, unhurried atmosphere (we dawdled from 1.00 to 5.00 or so). Given the very reasonable prices and the beautiful little gems amongst the wine-list, I will be returning to Zonzo's soon, but with just my wife for company.

This is one of, if not the best Italian restaurant in London. Me and my boyfriend are a regular at Zonzo. The restaurant is a beautiful space: gorgeous murals on the wall, fire from wood oven and classic Italian music , it feels like in Italy. The food is without any question wonderfull all the times and the service superb. Full marks!!!!!!!
