We were greeted by friendly staff and were seated in a pleasant area for pre dinner drinks. There was no rush, although our table was available early; we went through to the restaurant area, which is contemporary and comfortable.
The service was attentive, polite and sociable, but never overpowering or openly hovering.
The food was truly excellent; we had the tain of crab and monk as starters, followed by the hot shellfish platter and the hot seafood platter as main courses. The portions were large enough without being too much.
Top marks to the chefs and the staff for making this a very nice evening. We will be going again.

I went to Sargasso Sea on the recommendation of a French chef, whose food I respect, the experience was superb. The fish platter was beautiful, perfectly cooked. One of my colleague had the halibut and was equally impressed. Pleasant modern environment, Food was great, would definitely go again for a relatively good meal which was good value for money. The prices are slightly expensive but food is excellent .it seems worth every penny!! Highly recommended. I don't mind paying for it. "salute Chef.

Been to Sargasso Sea twice and both times it was lovely. Service was of a high standard and the food delicious although I would recommend the plain lobster instead of the thermidor. I had the Dover Sole the first time i went and it was beautiful! Atmosphere is nice and the outside seating is lovely in summer. Quite expensive but worth the money. Perfect place for a special occassion. Great if you live locally and dont have to venture into town for good seafood!

My sister told about Sargasso Sea after reading on a review magazine.
I've been wined and dined in some of the best restaurants in London and this, without doubt is in the top two for food. I ordered crab soup as a starter. Amazing and lip smacking. The intense depth of flavour made for a winning start, I like to ask the chef for the recipe. For main course I had the perfectly cooked cod with consommé, served with fennel and Sara had the lamb resting on mash with a honey sauce. The lamb was succulent, juicy, tender and scrumptious.
I'm not usually a desert person, but the chocolate cake with nuts and cream ended up eating most of it…..
There are only three restaurants I am likely to go out of my way to recommend and this is one of them
Simply perfection!

Yes Yes Yes to Sargasso Sea! I'm devastated by some of the reviews I've read. I am also in the business as I own some quite well known Italian establishments and we've been to Sargasso Sea about 25 times over 5 years (last time was last Saturday 15th), as myself and my wife live in N21, and I have NEVER had anything near below 10/10. The service is always warm and efficient and the food is ALWAYS deliciously interesting. The place looks and feels fantastic to be in and as a customer it is always good to see that the owner puts money back into the business (it's just been refurbished to a very high standard). As far as the prices go, I'm afraid that is what fine dining costs nowadays. Try eating out in Central or West London and I challenge anyone to find a better restaurant experience for less than £50 per head. To conclude, a fine establishment (that will continue to take my money!) that is a testament to the heartfelt effort and hard work that the owners put into the place to get it to such a high standard. Keep it up!

YES YES YES to Sargasso Sea. In the world of food and drink there are SO many average efforts out there that are described as good. On that basis Sargasso Sea MUST land somewhere between better that good and the best there is. The service is always warm, attentive and professional, the food is always fresh and interestingly delicious and the ambiance and decor are warm, classy and chic. I agree with other reviewers that it's not the cheapest but "you get what you pay for" springs to mind and Mcdonalds is not far, for those that need something more affordable, or indeed everything in between. I am astonished at some of the reviews I've read here and can't believe we are talking about the same place.
To sum up: If you want a knock out restaurant experience, go there. If not, I'm sure there are plenty of places in the area that are "good enough" for what you want.

Whilst I agree that this restaurant is top-notch, I must say that I'm not sure that we are talking about the same place as THEY HAVE NO WOODEN FLOOR unless you took your own?!? Was the place you went to in London, England?

I went there with my partner. I was quite dissapointed with the food and i expected it much better for this price!very salty spagetti, tastless desert, like the frozen ones that you put in the microwave. We had a salad for starter, it was ok but it took them 45 min to bring us the main course and we could hear other couples complaining about the slow service. If you want to save yourself from a big disapointment don't go there.

I have eaten at Sargasso Sea a few times as I live close by. The food is lovely, the service of a very high standard, the atmosphere is wonderful. The only criticism I have is that the fish is not sourced from sustainable stocks.
The first time I asked them this question they didn't really know what I was talking about (12 months ago). The second time I asked they told me they try to obtain thier fish as eco friendly as possible but as I pushed them further on this it was clear to see that they still don't really know what a sustainable source is.
I love seafood and I would like to ensure that the sea is well managed so that we can all enjoy all the gorgeous delights for many years to come.
Do eat at Sargasso Sea and do ask them about sustainable fish sources as it is only through customer demand that things change.
