I have eaten here a couple of times and found the food to be pretty dull and uninspiring on both occasions. Personally, I don't like the decor much, but I have to say the service was top notch on both occasions. Don't know why they can't get the food act together. A Malyasian friend who joined me on my last visit was also totally unimpressed with the food. Her verdict: 'it sucks'! I really don't think this place deserves the very high ratings it seems to have (and can't understand those ratings, given the mixed reviews).

I've been to the Georgetown - and Raffles, the sister restaurant - a number of times, and have never been disappointed. The Georgetown Experience represents good value for money, the service is uniformly excellent and the food consistently of a high standard. I recommend the Udang Tempura, the Pineapple Paradise and, of course, the Singapore Slings, without which a visit would not be complete.
Having read some of the other reviews, I am at a complete loss; I've never had a comparable experience.

In a word - DREADFUL!! This has got to be the worst food I have been served at any restaurant ever - and I am not a fussy eater in the slightest. Our group chose to go with the christmas menu package which came with a singapore sling which was actually quite good and a 1/2 bottle of wine which was ok. For starter the Mee Goreng was lump of tasteless noodles with something that resembled a few tiny prawns. For main (I can't remember the name of the dish) came with a small portion of pilau rice that seemed to be straight out of a microwave ready meal and a few nugget sized pieces of over fried chicken with little flavour. I opted for the cheese to finish and out came 2 pieces of red leicester and cheddar that had obviously been left out for a long time because they were limp and coated in a greasy film. A couple of my friends ordered the beef which was described to me as boot leather (although the sauce seemed to be reasonably tasty). The package was £30 a head, the manager offered to take 20% off but we insisted that we would not pay any more than £20 a head which we believed was more than generous.
I will strongly advise you to avoid this restaurant - it was picked as a last resort and even then we made a huge mistake.

We had our Christmas annual bash at this restaurant last Friday 9th and booked the Christmas Food and Drinks Package at £33 - never again! This was the worst meal I can remember having at any restaurant. All the portions were tiny, the starter dish of Indian Mee Goreng (noodles and not much else) was overcooked. Next course of Rendang Daging (beef medallions) were burnt on the edges and tough, followed by the fresh fruit which could not really be ruined by the chef. The service between courses was very slow (probably to encourage people to spend more on drinks) It was a complete waste of money and wish we had complained at the time but it was too late to go elsewhere and most of us were hoping the next course would improve. Must say that the waiters were polite and atmosphere quite good, but the food - awful!

I ate at this restaurant last night and what an awful experience. Although the service was ok, the food was disgraceful and the piano music was dull. I had the Tim Sum to start, they smelt like cat food and tasted so dreadful I couldn't eat them. Then the Mee Goreng, I am a big fan of this dish usually however Georgetown chef killed it. Since when do you serve a noodle dish with all the noodles chopped up, also it really was tasteless. Finally I had the Satay Ayam, which were partially burnt, along with a couple of pieces of dried out cucumber, tinned pineapple. All in all dreadful.... Don't go there!!

We stumbled upon this place by accident whilst shopping at Borough markets. The surroundings reminded me of being in an old style colonial hotel with an airy feel, lots of cane furniture and well dressed attentive waiters.
The food was delicious. I had the Lamb Biryani. The meat was meltingly tender and the accompanying Achar, spicy and authentic. My fiance had the Mee Goreng which had a nice mix of chicken, prawns and vegetables.
The lunch menu is particularly good value at £10 for two courses and we found that there were dishes available that are hard to find anywhere else in London for this price.
