I am sure this place was a nice place to dine before it got so popular.

But I found this restaurant not pleasant place to be at all from start to finish, and the food was merely okay.

well, plenty fish in the pond.

A friend and I decided to try out this Italian Restuarant last week as it is so well reviewed. What a shock! The food was average, the menu could do with a few more choices as it was quite limited. The service was appalling and I have never met a restuarant manager who made it so clear he didnt give a toss whether his customers came back or not as he stated how important it was to keep the tables turning. We were given our bill and very abruptly told that they wanted their table. I was aghast at the dirty looks and obvious glances at their watches to signal that as customers that we had overstayed our welcome. When asking for the manager's attention to the matter, he made it clear that our table needed to be cleared so he could generate more money by giving it to other customers (even though we were still drinking our wine) and was completely oblivious to the fact that the other customers were becoming uncomfortable by his loud, rude and unprofessional manner. He wouldn't listen to our concerns and interrupted us continuously. Very poor management and hopelessly overrated. Do not waste your time here!

In all my years of dining, this has been the worst restaurant that I have ever been to in my life. My friend and I went on Friday night. The meal was average, nothing special. The service was absolutly horrendous. At 8.30pm the owner, brought the bill over to us even though we did not ask for it and just said in an abrupt and rude manner "here's the bill, we need the table". No apologies, nothing. I was shocked as (a) we had not asked for the bill (b) he did not even apologise and (c) there were two other tables that were free. Despite such rude treatment, my friend and I paid the full amount but I told the owner that I was not happy with the way we had been treated. He then raised his voice, and again, without any apology and no willingness to listen to us just responded "you've been sitting here for three hours, you didn't even have a reservation to begin with". I explained to him that his actions were not excusable and that he should have told us before we even sat down that there was either a turnaround time for each table or that there were other bookings. He did neither and instead very rudely accused us of being liars. I was furious and explained to him that my father also runs restauraunts and not on one occassion has he ever treated his customers like that and he has never handed a bill to customers without it being requested. The owner then had the cheek to tell me and I quote that my father "isn't business minded " like he is. He then just opened the door and practically chucked us out of the restaurant. I have never been so angry in my life and I can't believe why people go to his restaurant. The food isn't all that, the service is apalling and customers are not valued at all.

The atmosphere and service was faultless. Warm welcome upon arrival and not rushed into ordering. The house red was lovely. We didnt have to wait for long between ordering and being served our food. We had the bruschetta for starters which was really nice. The Seabass for main course was delicious although could have done with having some sort of salad or pasta with it as it is just literally 2 pieces of fish with sauce and onion shavings on the side. When it came out the waiter offered some salad with it but it should have been listed on the menu rather than offered to you once served. I had the chicken with Taglietelle which was lovely but a tad bland. Saying that with price thay set the food at you could order 2 main courses each and not feel like your breaking the bank.

It's still some of the best italian food i've had.

Well worth a visit.

I guess after reading all these fab reviews I was expecting alot more than what it is there... especially because of these great review, I decided to celebrate my birthday there.... There wasn't as much choices a I thought there is as an italian restaurant. Maybe there should be at least pizza or something.

But it's true the pasta there are good!!! really tasty...

I was visiting a friend in London on the 14th July 2007 and I took him out for a meal to Da Mario's. I booked it over the internet simply because I am from the North East and wanted to surprise him.

The meal was the best we had both had for years. The staff were very friendly too. It was a very cosy atmosphere and we will both be visiting there again very soon.

I have handed the business cards out to friends down there too!

This restaurant is such a find! Some of the best Italian food I've had in London, at really modest prices. The staff are all very friendly and efficient -- you're made to feel as though you're eating in a nice Italian family's home. Highly, highly recommended. I've made it my regular for dinner in Covent Garden.
