Da Mario (Covent Garden)

I went to DA MARIO on Saturday 2nd May with my husband and two friends they

were really impressed with the service and the food it was lovely and very enjoyable evening.

We will be returning again and will certainly recommend this lovely italian restaurant.

Lively little Italian restaurant, good atmosphere reasonable prices.

More on the menu than pizza and pasta!

Although I must admit to having spagetti arabiata (I'm a vegitarian, and this is my favourite Italian dish).

Slightly off the beaten track nut well worth the visit.

Me and my husband were looking very nice Italian place for very long... and I think Da Mario is exactly the place we had in our mind. A small restuarant but the service is good and the food is just fab. We had sea food pasta and veal with Mushroom sauce and a started and dessert.(plus wine) and I think everything lived far from expectation.

Wow, what a gem. Located close to Covent Garden.

Our table was booked for 1700, (evening opening time.) when we got there, there was only two other people seated, but soon filled.

Food was great, real itallian flavours. Service was very good too.

For a three course meal we paid £36 each inc 2 bottles of wine - great value for money.

Superb! Great food and great prices. Cant complain! They could easily charge 10% more on the prices as the food is great !

Place looks cozy but a little packed,

I went there three times but the last impression was the most important and dissapointing, the waiters are generally polite but without being particularly professional in their manners.

The last time I went I was waiting for another person to join us (3 people altogether). When I arrived the place was empty and I was told there was no problem with any bookings etc. The staff became pushy after 30-40 minutes saying that the third member of our company would probably not join and asked me and my colleague to sit at a table for two.

They were also pushy with the orders, asking if we wanted more food and wine without letting us have our conversation peacefully, then finally the other friend joined and they were all of a sudden more polite than before.

I would say give it a try and see what you think, but I will not go again. I'm not happy with their attitude and their food is not that special.

As a veteran of Da Mario, I have to say that you will struggle to find as good Italian food, wine and service at much swankier restaurants in London at significantly more money.

One or two diners have complained about the £1.50 charge if you don't have a starter. This is a proper restaurant in Covent Garden, with all the overhead that goes with it, and it seems to me that the charge is both very reasonable and right.

I was there with my girlfriend yestaday and I have to say that even though the place is small and the tables are very close one to another, the food is superb and the service is really good, I'm pretty sure we'll be back to Da Mario.
