I had high hopes for Banana Leaf after my friends told me how nice it was and that it was quite reasonable. Well my boyfriend and I left disappointed. To start I had vegetarian dumplings which came with a very sticky sweet sauce which was sickly and overpowered the dumplings. For my main I had a seafood red curry which was ok - I don't think it suited the salmon but that might just be my preference. My boyfriend had a chicken noodle soup which he didn't even eat half of. He said it was tasteless and watery. The meal cost £40 for two mains, two starters, a glass of house white wine and a beer. I thought this was very expensive (maybe they put the prices up for Valentine's Day??) considering the food and the canteen-style ambience. I won't be returning.

Visited for the first time last thursday (4/10/07) was quiet as we entered, about 6.30pm, but soon filled up. Table-Sharing policy works well and space/privacy is still provided. Busy restaurant with great ambience and service, food incredibly reasonably priced, you may look at the menu and think that it is a bit pricey, but once it arrives and you taste it, you'll take it all back. I am not a great red meat eater, but the aromatic duck in lettuce leaves is the BEST thing I've eaten this year. An absolute superb restaurant, that I can only recommend, if you are looking for a fabulous meal, great wine and staff, please visit this venue. Once again, thank you for the beautiful food!!!

I have eaten here quite a few times over the past year or two and enjoyed it every time. It's not the best place in London to eat Asian food but it's tasty and value for money. I would certainly reccomend a go if you're in the area. The blackened chilli pork is great.

This place is fantastic value for a good curry and pleasant service.. The comments about it being poor are obviously made up as it has a 'bring your own' drinks policy and so comments about it having a poor wine list are absurd. The ingredients are fresh and the food of consistent quality. I eat here regularly and everyone I have taken there has been back.

Eat here last night as I love Asian food.

Food was above average, although only tried three dishes (loved the Pork Nasi Goreng). Disappointing that boiled rice seemed to be the only accompaniment to your dish (if not already with rice of noodles) Where the other types of rice or noodles?

Service was very friendly and helpful, however we did wait ages for the main course to arrive! Prices are very reasonable.

WIne list was small but then you wouldn't go there for "good wine", this is a great place for a couple or a group to go for good food [usually supposedly] quickly!

Very average - the service was slow and they forgot half our order so we had to wait even longer. The food was just ok, not particularly hot and not particularly tasty at all. I can't understand the queues outside this restaurant as there are so many better places to eat in the area.

Went to this restaurant for the first time last night and found the food to be sub-standard. My starter arrived lukewarm and main course consisted of cheap cuts of meat, watery curry (I went for the green curry) and low grade rice (it was dry and hard unlike rice that is served in good asian restaurants). I would compare the food to something you can get in a supermarket meal deal box. Really really bad food. The wine list was pretty disappointing as well. I would avoid this restaurant in future and would not recommend it to anyone.
