Just got back from Henry's in Wimbledon. Food and drinks very nice, shame I cant say the same about the service. It was poor. Make me feel very unwanted, no check backs was done, no side order offered. Haven't been even asked if we would like to have another drink. The restaurant wasn't busy so no excuse. Shame, I was looking forward to a nice evening.

I recently visited Henry J Beans in Wimbledon with my Partner on recommendations from a friend on the rack of ribs they offer on Wednesdays which is half price at £6.95. My partner and I tried tried the special, and wow the presentation of the size of the Rack of Ribs marinated in BBQ sauce with some fries was out of this world. I thought i can't wait to tackle this monster. It was mouth watering succulent and the best ribs i have tried in London. Folks I recommend taking this challenge.
They also have drinks specials so we tried two of their cocktails recommended by the waitress as some of their popular veriety and she said it was her favorite 2 so we went for them. This was a fantastic experience all in one and we will definately be returning here again.

First time at Henry J beans on saturday for my birthday and I was pleasantly surprised. Henry J beans was really vibrant, The restaurant are was quite full but our drinks and food came pretty quicky. We had the ribs which were really good, perhaps a bit large but good value for money. The cocktails where ace, flaming cherry zombie my favourite. The service was helpful and attentive, our waitress let us know about all the offers like happy hour ect.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone, if you like busy vibrant bar. It's great because after dinner, you don't have to go anywhere else, they have DJ's and dancing

"Henry J Bean's" would do well to be re-branded more simply and more accurately as "Mr Bean's" - because that is what it is - something so ludicrous, so farcical, that it's hard to remember this place is actually real and not part the setting of an ITV sitcom.
Let's begin with the condiments: a miserable amount of ketchup served on a paper plate. Vinegar? None. Could we have more ketchup, as 2 of us are eating...? No problem - and served in a whiskey glass, with no spoon. We went for the pouring option.
Mains? Lightly cooked fries without any salt. Greasy chicken. Corn on the cob pierced by a cocktail stick, struggling to cope with the weight of anything more than a piece of cheese or pineapple.
Desserts? £7.25 is a lot of money for some tasteless chunks of brownie, no frills ice cream, and Anchor UHT whipped cream, thrown together and served on a main course plate. We were looking forward to the huge wine glass of dessert that we'd had a few months earlier, and taken a picture of on our mobile phones (it was quite something... taller than a botte of wine) but were disappointed. When we asked why it wasn't served like that any more, the waiter didn't believe we were telling the truth, so borrowed our phone to take through to the kitchen and asked the chef about it. He came back to us and explained it was no longer served that way because the chefs kept breaking the glassware and it wasn't cost-effective.
Service charge? Of course it was added. All 12.5% of it. And of course we took it off.
So there you have it - Mr Bean's very own disastrous restaurant. Do not go! You've Bean warned!

Recently popped on impulse on what turned out to be their Wednesday Rackin' Ribs Night. There were a few other folks in who clearly were more clued up than us since most seemed to be taking advantage of this mid-week offer, and the atmosphere was generally quiet but pleasant nonetheless.
Following the lead of those around me, I opted for the ribs & my partner had a burger. My food was good (shame about the meagre coleslaw portion) & the burger also not at all bad. Same can't be said of the dessert - I first ordered banana split only to be told they'd run out of ice cream (!), so opted for the baked cheesecake which came out a bizarre mix of microwave warm and freezer solid.
Like the review below, service was a bit hit and miss. Initially good, it tapered off and we too ended up looking longingly (and in vain) about the place when it came time to pay. Bill was, as you'd expect, very reasonable.
Henry J Bean's is a bit like a tin of Ronseal - it does exactly what it says on the tin - & what you get is not going to win any prizes, but will do a job.

The food itself was ok although my partner really enjoyed hers. She had the famous ribs and they were tasty. My steak was rarer than I'd asked for but was nice. The chips were pretty terrible. Like McDonalds but less salty.
The service was my major gripe. Although the food arrived quickly, we felt ignored for the whole night; we had to find our own table coming in. After our main meal we had to go and ask the waiters at the till to order desserts and were told 'yes in a minute' so we left that! Then we had to find them again to pay and were told again to wait.. so we left, went to the pub and had a couple of drinks and returned two hours later to pay our bill. They hadn't even noticed we left.
I wouldn't recommend it. Other american based restaurants offer better food and much better service.

I've been here several time for food and I keep coming back for the ribs - they're fantastic!
We always try and get a booth when we go - great place for food and a cocktail or three!
