i have been before to taro and i somehow enjoyed it. i did order one of the don boxes.. you know a box with rice underneath and a topping on top.

well on my second visit to this branch (the one above was in brewer st.) was really dissapointed. i enjoyed some bits of it but overall not good. i had gyoza which was nice enough. and oolong tea was good too. my problems started when i order katzu curry with rice. i went for pork and honestly was the worse katzu curry i have eaten in london. taking the good experience i had with satsuma this katsu was bad. sorry, not crispy at all and the coating was not good. was not crispy at all and not tasty neither as for the curry itself was terrible, honestly i do know what katsu curry is suppose to taste like and it ws not good. service was good but it will not save the bad review.

to end up my meal i ask for cinnamon icecream. the last time i had cinamon icecream in taro again in the brewer street brand was good, i mean it did taste like cinamon icecream and not just plain vanilla. this one did not have enough cinamon. so it was rather plain....

when the bill came they did add the gratuity or service charge. i hate in a restaurant when they do that. it is like saying they were great when they were not... anwyay... not happy. will i come back probably to the brewer street one and i do not think i will go for the curry....... but i am a bit worry about giving it another go.

A Rather Unusual Chinaman

A Rather Unusual Chinaman -

Friday, June 03, 2011 - Their lunch menu is a most bargainous 7 quid (eat in, cheaper if you take away) and contains enough food to keep you fueled for the rest of the day...Opting for a chicken teriyaki box, I had some sesame bean sprouts, some pickles, a dressed salad, some edamame, a little potato salad and a generous portion of chicken and rice. Best of all, it all tastes pretty great. I've been working in Covent garden for about a year now and I don't think you are going to find much better food at much better value in the vicinity.
